  • n the other hand - this year, with insurance we’re going to pay about $6k in insurance premiums and $8k in medical expenses before we hit our deductible (~7% of total salary)

First world countries spend like $6,000 - $8,000 per person on care for better outcomes. The US pays more in employer subsidies and premiums than other countries pay altogether for medical care, and they don't have to worry about it at the point of service.

  • Plus all of that negotiating is baked into the end costs which is why in the US on average we spend twice as much on medical care with worse outcomes and not everyone is covered.

  • On top of your premiums, any insurance through a job means the job is paying thousands of dollars a year to insurance instead of paying you on top of what you paid.

  • Plus the Brit coverage is universal while the US has a significant number of uninsured. We pay double on average including for those that aren't covered at all. Even though the long lines myths are overblown for countries with universal care, it is important to remember that in the US a lot of people never get the care and we still have massively long wait lines unless we can afford to be first in line. The wealthy have a fast pass.

  • I used to before being diagnosed when I worked 10-6 or noon to 8 shifts. Working 8-5 really fucks with my sleep and causes the evening brain fog.

    But 8-5 pays way better.

  • The generic for Ritalin works wonders for me. Extended Release though, not regular or Sustained Release.

The second thing that most improved my ADHD was not trying to do anything complex or important in the evenings after focus is lost. Just let it be relaxation and gaming time so I don't need to clean up my failure in the morning.

  • I’m extremely intelligent.

If you feel the need to say it, you probably aren't as intelligent as you think you are.

  • Never. He will always blame someome else for his mistakes.

  • It isn't just slavery even if that is the easiest part to focus on. Reparations are also for the systemic racism that followed the end of chattel slavery, including the continued slavery allowed in prisons, Jim Crow laws, redlining, lynchings, and white people burning down black communities with the support of the government in the 1900s. Yes, slavery is the catalyst, but it isn't the whole thing that society owes as reparations.

Also, it doesn't matter what racists say. They already say that discrimination against black people was solved with the civil rights movement and doesn't exist except for DEI initiatives being somehow racist against white people.

Reparations should be a one time payment AND continued reparations as a combination money and other services to lift up black communities which are still commonly targeted by racists.

  • My guess is that Ukraine is not inentionally targeting civilians, which is a significant difference.

  • Hell, ol' horny goatman could building up the summoner's confidence with a long term goal of increasing fertility while also being a good friend. The goals don't have to be exclusive!

  • The issue is this: hypocrisy is a very surface level complaint.

The 'rules for thee but not for me' kind of hypocrisy is extremely important.

  • I had a massive drop in non-English posts after setting it to English+Undefind, and then just blocked the half dozen communites that weren't properly set.

After typing that out I just remembered that other instances only show communities from the instance and those someone locally has subscribed to, so it is probably more of an issue on .world.

    That sucks.

  • Never taking responsibility for harming others is the American way.

  • Nah, he will just outright deny reality like he has his entire life including lying about his crowd sizes since 2016.

  • The crowd just kept on going and going and going and going and going! I couldn’t believe the number of people!

Any chance the Dems will learn from Obama and Harris that younger and energetic candidates that stand firm will energize voters and increase turnout?

Yes, I am assuming Harris will pull in the numbers in November because she is currently doing things overwhelmingly right on the campaign trail. Not perfect, but overall really, really well.

  • You are stating the literal hypocrisy and saying it isn't hypocrisy. I have no idea what nuance you are saying is there.

Pointing out hypocrisy is actually fairly effective with uninformed people. If they have only a passing interest in JD couch molester, but are made aware of his anti-trans/drag legislation at the same time they find out he was cool doing it himself, they will be likely to not believe his bullshit in the future. No, it won't swing his base who are already on the cognitive dissonance express, but it might help motivate someone on the fence to get out and vote against him.

  • So does my android, but I somehow find the icon in the car even more entertaining since it reminds me of when the first cars with mobile phones in the 80s actually had handsets!

  • The issue isn’t his hypocrisy, it’s “see? You clearly know this is fine. You all know this drag obsession is bullshit.

Yeah, that is the hypocrisy that is being pointed out.
