Ratatan reveal trailer - Patapon spiritual successor

  • Sounds like they're actually going through with the leak saying they'll pay high karma users much faster than I thought.

  • Could you mention what apps you needed to run?

I don't remember which they were exactly but some Adobe products were some of them. Specifically Illustrator.

Also, fractional scaling has been improved a lot in Gnome and KDE, afaik.

I hope so. I've last been on Linux like ~2 years ago and I've heard some good changes.

  • A few apps I needed didn't work on Linux without a hassle and a lot of games I play with friends only run on Windows. I also found a lot of things were kind of a hassle on Linux, especially screen scaling. Fractional screen scaling straight up barely works and everything on my laptop screen was usually tiny.

I would totally go back when the experience is a bit nicer, I'm pretty frustrated with Windows. I think the Linux desktop experience isn't totally ready imo.

  • Contrast feels a lot nicer, thanks for the update!

I wish there was some spacing in-between posts though. It feels like they blend in together a little.

Edit: turning off card shadow in compact mode helps a lot

  • It is ridiculous, but according the article the CEO hid stable diffusion from him and told him the company was failing.

  • No Schweppes? For shame.

Also, cheers to my milk tea brethren.

  • Great stuff. I didn't expect Meta of all people to be leading open source LLMs, hopefully now companies will invest into making Llama models that are actually competitive.

  • There are a ton of good mobile games but the reason you can't find them is because 99% of what you see in app stores are paid advertisements. Every section is basically paid, and the few which aren't get botted by major companies. That app that has 5 million downloads and 4.6 average score? Most likely spammed with bots that give it 5 stars. Google Play is a disaster.

Here are some Android games I would absolutely recommend:

    • Fancy Pants Adventures
    • Data Wing
    • The Battle of Politopia
    • Sonny
    • Plato
    • Cube Escape Collection
    • Pocket City (or its sequel)
    • Bloons TD 6 (paid)
    • Dicey Dungeons (paid)
    • Dead Cells (paid)
    • Downwell (paid)
    • Baba Is You (paid)
    • Levelhead (paid)
    • Kingdom Rush series (paid, usually on sale though)
    • If you own Netflix you get to play their catalogue of games for free. I recommend Into the Breach, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, Oxenfree

I could go on, but the point is ignore everything you see on the store. The store is garbage. Try to look for games that are well-talked about online.

Edit: Forgot to mention, there's an app called MiniReview where you can browse game reviews from people who actually care. It's a good resource if you're looking for good games.

  • My phone. I really need to work on not holding it at all times and opening the screen, looking for notifications, and closing it again every 30 seconds.

  • I'm not sure if you can do this on the app you're using, but on the website you can click on your profile --> settings --> disable "Show NSFW Content" and hit save.

  • I honestly hope they don't change it, it's funny how terrible it is

  • Not much was said in the video sadly, mostly PR speak. I have no doubts there will be DLC though considering how many there were in FFXV.

  • I always hated complex combo systems in fighting games like Tekken and Street Fighter. Fighting games shouldn't be about being able to input 50 super precise key combinations in the span of 1.5 seconds. It should be about positioning, timing, improvisation... Guilty gear strive and super smash bros is proof of this. Every game that gatekeeps new players for not memorizing the built-in combo that takes 60% of your opponent's HP feels like it's still stuck in the 90's arcade game era. Most fighting game series refuse to move forward. There, I've said it.

  • So they weren't kidding, it is an actual real update. Sure, it's community content, but content and bugfixes nonetheless!

  • Monster train is lovely. I actually prefer it to Slay the Spire, but it is a little bit more complex. I would highly recommend not playing with the DLC at the start because that makes things a lot more complicated. If you do end up buying the DLC, there's an option to turn it off. Only when you've mastered the game should you turn it on.

  • Also worth mentioning that there's an ongoing ARG happening for this game! Their YouTube channel has mysterious 1-minute videos with hidden codes in them if someone likes this stuff.

  • I'm really not feeling this one. This reminds me so much of old-school power rangers. It just looks so... Uninspired.

  • You've got stuff like helping assistants on Duolingo and Khan Academy powered by GPT-4, you've got stuff like tools for automatic search engine optimization, tools for automatic code generation, tools for grammar spell checking, tools for translation, and probably a lot more I'm unaware of.

There's quite a lot of people depending on GPT right now.
