  • Apps listening to your mic to give you targeted ads is an urban legend. There's tools to see which apps listen to you and there isn't any evidence that any of the popular stuff ever open the microphone (unless you're in a call or something). If you're too worried about it, you can always turn off the mic permission for the app.

The ads are actually coming from other ways of tracking you like browser fingerprinting to follow what things you browse and build a profile on what you like/are interested in.

See also EFF's article on it: https://www.digitalrightsbytes.org/topics/is-my-phone-listening-to-me

  • F...K...! In the coffee! I knew I could rely on it!

  • Deadly Premonition. It's a cult classic, just a really weird game with shoddy translation and awkward cutscenes that barely make any sense but is somehow still self-aware.

Ushah, are you... a passionate man?

  • Games with lots of mods for sure. It may be a generic recommendation but Minecraft with mod packs and gorgeous shaders is an amazing experience for someone who never got around to trying them.

Also if he's a souls-like fan, I highly recommend Elden Ring's convergence mod and Dark Souls 3's convergence mod (they're by the same team). It adds like a hundred new spells, new weapons and equipment, overhaul of some mechanics like having actual classes with game-changing effects, completely overhauls areas with new geometry, adds new enemies and bosses, etc. It's a very fun time.

  • They've been teasing this thing forever it feels, but it does look great. The world needs more clamshell handhelds.

Edit: That D-pad though... That doesn't look comfortable.

  • The only game that felt like Pentiment to me was Disco Elysium. It's set in a fictional world but still has a very rich history aspect to it, and you do play as a detective in a mystery. Also, looots and looots of reading similar to Pentiment.

  • AI is extremely fallible and often makes mistakes, so no.

  • Being indie was sort of a death sentence in the late '90s and early 2000's, it's great that things have changed and publishing your own games has been made easier.

  • I was just about to say this, it's a game changer. Some OEMs (Android variants) even have options in the settings to set animation speed or disable them.

Speaking of, if your older phone is ever laggy or feels unresponsive, disable animations entirely. It made my phone feel brand new with how quickly it goes in and out of apps.

  • Their flagship models do but the other ones like nothing 2a have a mediatek chip

  • There's Bookwyrm for books. I'm not aware of anything for movies and tv.

  • Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and Civ 5. Those two took over my life for a while.

  • F#&k

    Jump
  • It's from the 1970 movie Santa Claus is Comin' to Town

  • It all depends on what magic we're dealing with. If it's just casting a fireball we'll probably win, if someone summons an eldritch god that wipes out humanity... Probably not...

  • The art of Hades is really detailed. Definitely not something one can easily recreate unless they're very talented. The way Supergiant uses shading is also very unique, sort of reminding me of Hellboy comics.

That said, there has been some accurate fanart out there. Here's one by /u/Blindster13

  • Fully playable build, but it's probably not a complete or finished game

  • Great choices all around. I should listen to the Fantasian soundtrack more.

  • It's a fairly difficult game, yeah. The combat is more akin to Sekiro where you need to time your blocks.
