  • I got my vaccine while in the weird period after getting a new job where you don't have your health insurance info yet.

    I paid $200 for it.

    I'd do it again - got covid a few weeks ago and it was pretty light, likely a result of the vaccine - but damn, that's a hard ask for a huge portion of the population.

  • Hell, even project managers who used to be engineers have trouble figuring out what they need. The reason engineers/general technical folk are valuable is because their job is to pick through the guesswork laid by management and formulate an actual working thing, regardless of whether it's a physical object or a button on a website.

    Current language learning model AI has no chance if you can't actually formulate what you really need.

    I can make AI write code for me, but actually knowing what I need it to write is more than half the battle

  • As I understand it, one Lehi leader (Yitzhak Shamir) went on to become Israel's PM for two terms. He also approved the assassination of Folke Bernadotte, a Swedish diplomat working to negotiate peace in the region.

    It's clear they had influence in post-WW2 Israel.

  • It's not a euphemism though, if you voluntarily resign, you're probably not eligible for unemployment.

    They can't FORCE it... but they CAN make you THINK they're forcing you to resign.

    My girlfriend got laid off a while back, and they asked for her to submit a resignation letter instead of them firing her. She said no. Guess who got unemployment while she was looking for work?
