  • They got worse recently, too, at least locally. You can't even turn off the insistent voice anymore, so now I have to hear it repeat "please scan your next item and place it in the bag" a dozen times, usually cut off because it takes longer for the damn machine to say that than it does for me to actually scan shit. And now they've added cameras which get easily confused if you, like me, usually just hold your few items in your hands while you're scanning, thinking you're trying to "dupe" the scanner.

  • Damn, this is helpful. I (ops manager) just manually delete these as I see them, but I don't always get to all of them in the main company inbox before the owner sees them and I sometimes have to field questions about "are you sure our SEO is good?" I'm going to set this up, lol.

  • As compared to a busy night while high? Way better, especially if your store had a working game demo kiosk. Clean up a little, play some games, pick out which games and movies you were going to rent with your free rental perks... Good stuff.

As compared to a slow night (or any other kind of night) while not high?

Lol who tf am I kidding, we were always fucking high

  • CVS participates in the govt program that gives the covid shots for free. I was between insurances when my husband left his corporate job and I'm immunocompromised, so I looked into it and while there's a few schools and medical centers participating too, CVS is pretty much everywhere and it was absolutely zero cost to me.

  • Depends on the size and industry of the company usually, too. My boss, coworkers and I swear all the fucking time, but it's literally 4 of us and we don't interact with customers in person or over the phone.

  • I wonder if it's counting the people who have $0 payments as having "paid", though, which could be driving up the percentage. Because I definitely haven't given them shit, but I'm considered "current" cause I somehow have $0 payments right now. Not sure why but I ain't fuckin arguing.

  • Most people cannot see their primary care physician just by driving up and being like, hey, I need to be seen for x issue. You pretty much have to make an appointment unless you go to a minute clinic or something. And that's with insurance. Your experience is very much an outlier.

  • This is different because, to a certain extent, people in the public eye can expect, anticipate, and react to/suppress this kind of thing. They have managers and PR people who can help them handle it in a way that doesn't negatively affect them. Billy's 13 year old classmate Stacy doesn't have those resources and now he can do the same thing to her. It's on a very different level of harm.

  • The problem I see is not that Islamophobes are against the religion of Islam. They're mostly just against brown people and use "Islam is a religion of hate" as an excuse to justify their racism. Furthermore, most Islamophobes "hate" Islam for the same reasons the love Christianity, they just don't like that brown people have been able to do what they haven't - suppress an entire population through the use of their religion, subjugating and oppressing women, LGBTQ+, other races, and non-believers. It's not that most of them have any actual problems with what hard-right Islam does, they just don't like that those brown (enter slur of choice)s are the ones doing it instead of them.

  • Lol that's fair, but since those words in that combination barely even make sense to me I tried to dumb it down more and ended up being wrong 😂

I'm the idiot who searches stack for code and copies and pastes it into the project so no one should listen to me anyway.

  • I like the idea of the yellow and white stripes representing the tribes and counties on the origami flowers one, and could easily see that being combined with the snowflake/star. But the main design is iffy, I agree.

  • It's a markup language. In the simplest explanation, a programming language describes a process (what does the thing do) while a markup language describes a structure (how is the thing supposed to be displayed). There's more to it than that, but someone else can get into deeper if they want, it's beyond me lol
