  • Kid I knew ripped the IT dept account and password out of Windows using a boot disk and told a few people including me.

You could use the account to remote access any computer on the network. I used it to set a friend of mine’s desktop background to an image I made of the world’s ugliest dogs. Teacher caught me and I fessed up.

Got yanked into the coordinators office and got a big spiel about how the account could have been used to access exams and reports and whatnot. Surprisingly didn’t get in that much trouble since I didn’t really use my great powers for anything crazy. Had to write a letter of apology to the principal and got detention for a bit and that’s it.

Kid who ripped the password didn’t do any time from what I remember. Don’t think I ratted, or at least I hope not.

  • I think this is a tacit admission from Nintendo that they consider the Steam Deck a competitor. Whereas for so long they have really not considered either Sony or Microsoft as competitors in their space.

If it brings more PC M+K style games to the Switch then that is only a good thing for the consumer I think, and there may even be a plus side for stuff like Metroid Prime 4 having mouse aim which would be cool.

  • People keep buying them (and complaining how shit GameFreak is)

  • It happens even if you ask how many “r”s are in “strawberry”. It’s a well-known AI gotcha that happens on most if not all current models. The typo in the original post is a little misleading and not that relevant.

  • Yeah but the money’s partly going to Blizzard so yeah…

  • It’s still very possible for iOS in app purchases if you use gift cards and a Turkey iTunes account. Some regional pricing has been adjusted but many have not

  • Aren’t China the ones making the chips in their foundries? What’s to stop them from not exporting the chips to US hardware manufacturers in retaliation? Are there any AI chips being made in the US?

  • Finished Metaphor: Refantazio right before the end of the year. Fantastic game which is shockingly relevant to so much going on at the moment around the world.

  • Bold of you to assume a corporation storing passwords in plain text would be using AV

  • I always think of THPS3 as a PS1 game, didn’t even know it had online MP

  • They could (and probably should) just partner up with ProtonDB and just bring in badges like the Decky plugin does. That also has the added bonus of getting some recommended tweaks or settings from other users really easily.

  • This is probably super pedantic (bloody programmers right?) but I really feel like it would depend on what is meant by “know every programming language”. Like being able to remember every syntax and construct is sort of useful but not all that practical. Understanding how to implement the language in a useful way is the valuable part, not just knowing the keywords.

I guess I would kind of compare it to the difference between being able to read Shakespeare and being able to write Shakespeare,

  • I’ve never played the series but I am interested and planning on seeing if the new version is good / considered “definitive” by fans of the series. If it’s good I will likely play this rather than the original version.

Same strategy I’m taking for Dragon Quest 1/2/3

  • There’s a remaster coming out early next year! I’m planning on doing the same when that comes out

  • Neil Druckman making his staff work triple overtime to render out the new Verizon space phone in game

  • Updated the number of key iterations on my Bitwarden password manager. Logs out every device instantly. It’s fine, just log back in right? Well guess which dodo put their Bitwarden 2 factor OTP inside Bitwarden and nowhere else, and didn’t write down the recovery key or anything. Yeah.

Lesson learned. Also made me realise how few places that have 2 factor authentication actually care about it for password recovery. I think Bitwarden was the only place with 2 factor where I couldn’t get back in (that I cared about anyway). The rest I was able to get my account back through other means

  • ohh ...

    Jump
  • Champagne for my real friends and real pain for my sham friends

  • Is this the same or different to nominative determinism?
