  • Serpent in the Sky is my go to when powers out. It's filled with highly fascinating facts about ancient Egypt and the seemingly unknown application of well known artifacts!

  • Seems like Firefox has already started the marketing campaign targeting this aspect of things. Just be sure to implement a User Agent Spoofer so FF can get around issues revolving around not being chromium based ie specific aspects of webpages tend to be designed only for chromium based browsers.

  • All good and hope things turn around soon. Be sure to keep your head up as its worth it even just for the little things in life.

What distro did you end up switching too?

  • This is always a decent idea, I distro hopped until I found one which worked with my workflow best. From a quick search it seems like Zorin is similar to Mint as its focus is to make switching from iOS/Windows easier. I highly recommend trying Fedora!! After trying ~7 distro's, each for at least 2 months, Fedora/Nobara for me were the most well rounded while also having a solid sized community to aid with questions when they arise.

  • Just like cattle, which are much more massive than us, we can get all our needed carbs, fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals from plants. One of the most insane stats when it comes to the beef industry is 3/4 of all crops grown in the US are used to produce feed for livestock.

Ideally we would switch 100% to vegan alternatives so then we'd have more than ample supply! Instead of a license for beef, how about something like if you havest it you take it to help eliminate hunger. I'm a vegan weightlifter (7 Years) and at 5'10" 185lb I can confidently say I feel better overall, more energized, and have no issues with protein deficiency.

  • Once you understand a 1/4lb of beef requires the same amount of water the average human uses showering for a month, the fact alternatives are easier on the planet is commonsensical. Beef should truly be a high priced commodity (~$300/lb at least) but thanks to the US government subsidies there are $1 burgers on every corner. At this point the only logical conclusion is the US government is attempting to see how fast they can deplete the world resources...

  • According to the President we'll need 5-15's too but cocktails + the masses are a force he didn't correctly evaluate in my opinion. Or maybe he just hopes the media dissolves the latter threat

  • That'd be news to me but science is always making discoveries and assess previous discoveries. If you have a link I'd like to see it.

  • There's a few research papers which identify psychopaths have different autonomic nervous systems. The autonomic nervous system controls the flight or flight response. The difference found in psychopaths nervous system results in a complete dulling of this function. Meaning they dont get stressed which explains how they can lie and a lie detector can't pick it up. Psychopaths need to have a running history from birth until the early teens years of certain traits whereas a sociopath would be more inline with the classic "they were a great kid until they starting hanging with the wrong crowd".

Here is a solid breakdown of the differences of you're curious: https://yewtu.be/watch?v=6dv8zJiggBs

  • I was taught that is another term for Psychopathy. There is a bunch of overlap between the two yet a psychopath is born and a sociopath is created, so maybe the term covers both classifications.

  • As I understand the concept, it would make sense someone growing up in a position without control over their day to day whatsoever could eventually dull any empathy and emotion as a protective measure plus figure out ways in which they can manipulate situations to obtain control.

  • I always saw it as the planet continues to collapse, both socially and environmentally, what would the purpose be of bringing another soul into the situation. The UK is seeing temps not forcasted until 2050, the global water situation looks worse each day and on average folks seems to be way more inclined to follow along without true thought or reflection. I see it as a selfish move to introduce a youngster into this mess.

  • If anyone is unaware, Atmos Financial is a FDCI insured climate positive bank in the US. Also has one of the highest APYs in the industry at 1.5% for savings accounts as long as a $1 monthly donation to any environmental non-profit is enabled. Otherwise its 0.8% but compared to say Wells Fargos 0.01% even thats still solid. Last year alone WF, B of A, Citi & Chase gave $742 Billion to the fossil fuel industry thanks to customer holdings and fractional reserve banking...

  • Initially I felt the same way, the IMEI is basically the phones ID and plays a role in cellular providers ability to track individual customers. You'd think if many many (13,557) folks had the same IMEI, it would increase security/privacy...

The issue arises due to the fact the IMEI is vital for the carriers not only for tracking but also for routing calls/text to the proper device. The SIM and IMEI together are what dictate what calls or text will be received on a specific device. This means if you attempted to call me and I was using one of these phones, you'd almost certainly be routed to someone else. Plus with the more recent uptick in account text message 2FA, this could prevent users attempting to get these text from accessing their account. Thankfully without the account username and/or password, the text 2FA would nearly be just an inconvenience but it would drastically lower online account security and prevent account logins from being possible.

Someone has some explaining to do!!!

  • If it was a latent virus it would be much more difficult to identify. Latent viruses are a more advanced virus as it has all cell replication embed the viral genome within it and will continue to replicate for sometimes decades until side effects begin. Most definitely still a major oversight on the physician's end but at least if was a latent virus things would make more sense.

  • Physics is tough, even crazier is the fact physics is labeled as the simplest science. This is due to physics only interpreting length, mass, time, and electric current. This claim is very misleading in my mind. Calculus was developed as a necessity to interpreted these four qualities to help better understand the world around us. But I couldn't agree more regarding physics needing a full makeover to make the subject more approachable for sure.

  • I didnt think so, I study molecular bio and aside from nursing programs, males are predominantly involved in the research. I see the article as a reasonable explanation for the why behind the what personally.

  • This was always assumed based on the moons surface composition. However, this is the first data from earth which is applicable on the moon and more or less validates this assumption from my understanding.

This article better demonstrates the recent development. Now having proof to back up the educated guess regarding how Europa’s subsurface ocean interacts with its icy shell is a step towards better understand this celestial body: https://www.newscientist.com/article/2316471-we-now-know-how-the-mysterious-ridges-covering-europas-surface-formed/

  • Of course, yet if a device is running a security and privacy centered relatively uncommon operating system (Graphene) I'm hoping this would allow it to slip through the cracks most likely focused on collecting data from androids and iphones. Guess after typing it out its more clear how much of a stretch it is to hope this is the case but I still have some hope...
