    Those exist?

  • And I repeat, intentions matter when it comes to meaning. There are many reasons to have mixed feelings about Elon Musk, but he is still an individual who still has his own reasons for things that we might not know of, especially if we're going to conclude them just based on scattered other things he has said and done, both good and bad. Not everything is about fascism (and, as a reminder, I have condemned both him and Nazism in the very memorabilia used to accuse me of supporting them), and even then, if you try to triangulate his intentions based on what he has said in the past, there are still a number of things it could point to, since it has all been vague. Aside from a few misconceptions of history he holds, which includes some conspiracy theories and which I condemn, I've yet to see him connected to the actual ideology.

  • If you think "plausible deniability" is their intention, nobody is stopping you from feeling like someone is worth avoiding for how they come across. But, again, that's different from trying to speak for one's intentions, or saying it is along these lines we should think, no matter what we think of the notion we call "plausible deniability".

  • That’s not my logic.

Then what's the issue here that puts me at fault for saying we can't put words in Musk's mouth? And what makes you think I'm making it anymore about myself than it already is?

  • By your logic, everyone who has ever said what I'm saying, which includes both Democrats and Republicans, is dogwhistling. This isn't the first time in history something was so nefariously interpretable, and it sadly probably won't be the last. Mere interpretation, and defense of what someone meant by a gesture or utterance, is just as timeless and not wrongful, and it's not breaking any rules here simply to speak for what one's actual intent might be versus the effect they had. I've already condemned both Nazis and Elon Musk in my initial exchanges, which are falsely presented here as "evidence" of supporting any murderous or criminal group. Not the same thing.

  • I say what his intention is based on what he says his intention is. Every person is the authority of their own intentions, and I was relaying what he said. That's not an excuse to say nor will it ever be, otherwise anyone and everyone could put words in anyone's mouth and treat it as canon.

  • Stop what? Stop elaborating on what I meant that caused me to be taken out of context? The fact people feel the need to take people out of context, and to campaign against someone wherever they go when half of what they're saying can be put to rest in an instance, is to me what's sadder.

  • Debunked in the sense that, one, what the perception was did not match his intention, and two, a lot of the footage exaggerated his gesture anyways. I don't rule out that it was reckless and that people are right to feel offended, just that we can't speak for another person's intent.

Something that's worth noting (or which I don't see a lot of people talking about) is the fact that the salute, historically, was done with your arm stretched out in front of you, not to the side like in the photograph of him. My style is to analyze things closely and give constructive critique (which is why, when someone mentioned he also shared antisemitic conspiracy theories, I gave some scolding words about Musk and did not continue the same "meh" reaction).

I remember when I was little and PokΓ©mon came out with the character Registeel and the sprite had to be changed because the pose they chose for the creature just happened to resemble a Nazi salute. It was probably far less likely to be intentional in their case, but it actually looked more like the salute... and then it was memed into oblivion. Musk's salute in the picture, though technically arguable to be the salute (and it's possible more to his intentions might come to light), was more like the Team Rocket pose.

  • Then it's a good thing I neither want anything of yours nor am going to tell anyone that anytime soon, now isn't it?

I also never gave away any personal information not already given by one's user-name (and have given no other bit of info of anyone without their consent). You, on the other hand, have provided a literal dump. If what you're doing isn't "doxxing", what I've done most certainly isn't.

  • As long as we're talking about who can and can't read, quote a part, any part, and I will tell you how it's incomplete. Or go the extra mile and read up on the other perspective.
