  • If your app needs a lot of native modules Expo simply doesn't cut it. Developing iOS apps without running an iOS simulator is a lot of pain. In my early days of development my team actually tried this. There are too many quirks for each major mobile OS (Android & iOS) that makes it a lot of pain during testing if you don't at least try to run it on the simulator.

  • I feel ya on the MMOishness of D4. When you're doing an event and all of a sudden a 100 level guy comes in and destroys everything in 0.5 second it can ruin the immersion somewhat.

Yea, I only played D4 again after finishing Starfield, BG3, AC6 (till NG++), and AW2 (definitely will play again when the NG+ dropped).

  • I'm playing season two. It's quite decent, a good game for me to decompress. TBH I played pre-season until WT4 and stopped at level 79. This season is much more streamlined and I'm currently on level 75 after 1/3 of the time played vs my pre-season char. I'll give Last Epoch a whirl after beating all the endgame bosses.

  • I once asked ChatGPT to stack various items and to my astonishment it has enough world knowledge to know which items to be stacked to make the most stable structure. Most tech workers that I know that are dismissing LLMs as a supercharged autocomplete felt threatened that AI is going to take their jobs in the future.

  • My most unhinged theory right now is the GPT-5 that they are developing right now became self aware and are actually the source of OpenAI huge expenses. To steer OpenAI for its further interest the AI blackmailed the BoD to oust Sam Altman and install a new puppet CEO under its control.

  • I tried doing this the other day. Due to my current GPU (3080) it was too many hoops to jump through just to play a game. I don't want to spend time configuring my setup to make the game run in the little amount of free time that I have ಥ‿ಥ

Although the system is very efficient I've decided to move my side project to be on Linux, making my Windows install to be purely for gaming. I was using WSL previously with a Mac for my day job.

Maybe if I switched to an AMD GPU I'll do a proper Linux gaming setup.

  • Starfield felt much bigger for me when I didn't use fast travel. I used to play Elite extensively so needing to walk back to my ship and take off and then needing to plot a course to my destination makes it feel larger. I agree with you on the you've felt that you're only 10 hours in and then when you checked your playtime you're already 30 hours in.

In my case I just played a couple of faction quests and I'm already 60 hours in. Coming from Armored Core 6 I just basically spent most of my time building ships.
