  • Im a broke woman with chronic health problems in a red state who may be homeless soon and who sure as hell can't afford to leave and go somewhere better. I guess I'll just keep trudging along and hope that somehow we're all being hysterical and things won't actually get that bad but if they do and if I lose what little social assistance I have I guess I'll just tap out and call it a life, ya know?

  • Last election I got to vote for "grab 'em by the pussy" or "black kids are just as good as rich kids" (or something similar. I can't remember the quote exactly and I don't have time to look it up).

This election I get to vote for genocide or genocide. I can't wait.

Edit: I'll take Biden over Trump any day. Trump terrifies me. I'm terrified of how many Americans are going to die if he wins. But I hate that these are our options.

  • My school uses MS for a bunch of the logins. 2FA is setup through your phone, which isn't annoying or anything. So anytime I login, I need my phone handy, and then I have to type in the stupid code into my phone and then a password to approve it and then maybe 25% of the time it decides me clicking "yes this is me" actually means "no, deny!" and boots me out and then I have to authenticate a different way. And if I sign into a different school website that uses the same damn MS login it kicks me from any other school websites I'm currently logged into so I have to log back into them even if they're still open in another tab and I'm actively working in then. So yeah, I'd like to think I'm smart, but I'd definitely just rush through another MS authentication request because I'm so damn sick of them.

  • When I was a kid I was only allowed to play educational computer/video games. The only exceptions to that were 2 games that came with our Win95 computer (when we got the computer it came with a little case full of software/game cds). One of the games was redline racer, a game where you could race motorcycles on pretty cool (for an 8 year old) tracks. The other was G-Police, a game that took place in an outer space colony built inside domes on the moon Callisto. You played as a guy who joined the government police to find out what really happened to his dead sister. The entire game play was executing missions piloting a flying fighter craft and the story was told/discovered via radio transmissions and cut scenes every few missions. I probably put hundreds if not thousands of hours into playing that game over and over between 8 and 10 years old. I actually found redline racer a few months ago on an abandonware site and got it to run on my computer, but the only install options were French, German, and Spanish, none of which I speak. I installed the Spanish version and was surprised at the fact that I could still remember/navigate all the menus. I haven't found G-Police anywhere or ever heard of anyone else who knows it. Part of me wishes I could find it and get it to work for nostalgia, but the other part of me knows that it's going to look like a bunch of boxy awful graphics and I should not taint my happy memories.

  • When I moved states and closed my accounts with the local bank I'd been with since my first bank account (and never once paid a fee to) I looked into the credit unions in my area. The fees were absurd, I finally found one that looked decent and then found that there was a $6 fee any time you transferred or withdrew money from any savings accounts. I'm not paying to access my own money. Ended up going with another small local bank and haven't paid a fee yet. Customer service is great too, I give them a call and get a real person the next county over and the few times I've actually gone to a branch they've been almost too nice.

  • I'm so sorry. Belle is beautiful. We can never have them for long enough can we? They come into our life and want nothing but to be a part of it and forever would be too short of a time to keep them. She'll be waiting for you over the rainbow bridge.

  • My rent has gone up at least $50-$100 a year when renewing my lease since I've been an adult renting a residence. In 2015 when I got my first apartment it was $750/month, utilities included except for electric and internet. 2 apartments later and an increase every year, I'm paying $2,000 month plus all utilities and fees for trash. It ends up being like $2350/month all said and done. And sure it's a nicer place, but it's not that much nicer. I'm so thankful I don't have kids, because I can't afford to feed myself, let alone children. I don't know how parents are doing this right now.

  • One of the men I've most respected and most trusted in my life told me once (at the time a teenager) that when he was in his 20s, women in their 20s were so hot and seeing a barely clothed young woman was so hot. But he said that now that he was in his 40s, women in his 40s were so hot and whenever he looked at a woman in her 20s all he could think of was that she could be his daughter and that he just felt protective and there was nothing hot or attractive about her.

I'm a woman, but when I was in my teens and early 20s guys in their teens and early 20s seemed so attractive and anyone older was not it. Now that I'm in my early 30s I'm so attracted to men in their 30s and I look at teens and guys in their early 20s and they just seem like babies to me. I actually deal with a lot of young guys with my work and they're all cool people and I love talking to them, but dating them? Ugh, no thank you. They were in elementary school (or younger) when I was graduating high school. So yeah, I think for a lot of people your goalposts move as you move, and that's not a bad thing. I also am curious as to whether I'll someday find 60 or 70 year old men hot, but I've got a long ways to go.

  • This is why I hate the Dems. They aren't fucking doing anything. Yeah, they aren't Republicans, but they claim they can't get anything done because the Republicans won't let them. Then why are they letting the Republicans get so much evil shit done? How is it that one side can accomplish their agenda and the other side sits and goes "sorry guys, they don't want to share their power so we won't be able to accomplish our goals lol better luck next time. " Fucking useless twats.

  • BG3 is helping me keep my sanity through this semester of college. I'm mentally at my limits, stressed, and overwhelmed, but on the weekends I load it up and play until it doesnt matter anymore. I'm just about finished my second play through and debating whether or not I want to start a third or take a break. I also listen to the soundtrack while I'm studying, it's become one of my absolute favorite soundtracks.

  • I would love to consider getting an electric car whenever I can afford a new(er) vehicle. But there's no way my landlord will let me run an extension cord from my 3rd story apartment around the building and around the pond between my building and the parking lot. It's sad that an EV would be so great, but its really a mark of privilege to own both in initial affordability and just having the place to park and charge one. Not that it matters, I can't afford anything other than my 24 year old Honda.

  • Skyrim. I played vanilla a bunch and now I'm working through the Living Skyrim 4 mod. I had to tweak a bunch of the settings, but I really enjoy it. I also love the Witcher 3, both actively playing quests and just wandering across the map listening to the howling wind and the soundtrack. I've loaded into that game after a long day with every intention of playing and just sat there with my headphones on and stared into space while the trees crackle together in the wind and the music plays.

  • I want the gravity gloves from Half Life Alyx.

Back when I played the game I was putting in a couple hours a day for a little bit. One morning I woke up to my cell phone alarm going off and I reached over to shut it off but it was out of reach. In my not very awake state, and having been spending so much time in VR with the gravity gloves on, I pointed two of my fingers at my phone to "tether" it and started flicking my wrist to "pull" it to me, just like in the game. It wasn't until it obviously didn't come flying through the air to me and I started getting frustrated that I woke up enough to realize that sleepy me is incredibly stupid and you can't make things fly through the air to you in the real world.

  • Am a renter and I have an extinguisher provided for me. There is one in my kitchen that I always keep in reach and one right outside my front door. My last apartment did not provide one so I went out and bought one. I'd rather "waste" $40 than lose my belongings. I'd also like to get a fire blanket at some point, should really stop putting it off.
