  • My only problem with magic earth is there is no easy access mute button on Android auto and apparently they can't put buttons on the left side due to limitations of android auto, but like thats the best spot for them. Google maps also recently figured this out and started placing them on the left side.

  • Another option is hoppy wireguard connection to get you a static IP. Good for not having to setup a vps and multi users dobr have to connect them to a vpn since it would make the services public.

  • One thing I found when testing.my settings was reducing the number of connections can cause better results. Is the speed your getting through the test button or actual downloads? The test also tests other things for the bottleneck so maybe something else is being the bottleneck like disk speeds.

  • That stuff is no joke. Walking in 4+ ft of snow for an hour on a normally 15 minute walk in sneakers with single digit wind blowing in all directions at 40mph. Good times! The lake effect was kinda nice on delaying winter too though.

  • Aw shucks thought I put server not manager lol.

Anecdotally, this thread reminded me of a time I circumvented my high schools filtering via using X11 to display Firefox on their Macs from a laptop I was using as a server haha.

  • Appreciate the correction. Honestly haven't delved with desktop Linux much though I plan on swapping from Windows again. Know things over the years, but miss the mark on some things. I corrected my original comment for accuracy.

  • There are 2 display servers for Linux. X11, which is really old and doesn't support newer things such as HDR and the "new" kid on the hlock, Wayland. KDE, Gnome and such that make the UI you interact with on Linux utilize X11 or Wayland to render everything on the screens.

  • Thinking of this from the prospective of "why have an IT department we don't need them everything is working". At least hopefully they have mitigated / prevented similar events you listed and we just never heard about them.

  • Assuming 53% of population are females that is 12.7 million with the condition. Using your 19/1000 that's 241k babies a year under this subgroup. Maybe it is 1 in 50 million chance for those 241k babies a year? Still seems off though I did pull the 53% out of my butt but I vaguely remember there being a slightly higher % of females in the total population.
