  • Slight nitpick: Brymen handheld meters often have better specs in the handheld market, in particular when you are looking at a fixed price point.

You see a lot of Fluke meters around due to service agreement, as well as government and military contracts.

Don't get me wrong, meters are fine, but there is no reason to spend that kinda money at home, unless the service manual of your washing machine explicitly states all measurements are to be done by a Fluke meter.

  • Hyperbole indeed.

What about the 25 other patients who do not have a really, really important diabetes consultation, but a head cold or are just alone and need to talk?*

What about that one person who had their really, really important diabetes consultation at 6pm but was told to come back another day two hours later at 8pm once the other appointments were all stretched out ad infinitum, but can't return anytime soon due to their boss not giving them any time off in their minimum wage job, who then DIES of diabetes? Come on, let's not resort to hyperbole and made up scenarios - improvements are possible, and we should aim for those.

*Loneliness, in particular in elderly patients, is a real problem which I'm not trying to downplay. This needs to be solved, too.

  • I think the difference here is that you don't carry your teacups around in a crowded bus at 7:30 am to annoy (and potentially endanger) other people.

Many places have adopted "fragrance bans" or etiquettes for that specific reason.

The EU has banned many fragrances based on health risks (e. g. somewhat recently, lilial).

  • I'd like to propose the theory that being naked with your partner in a hotel room, on shrooms, might not be exactly the environment / setting most conductive to personal growth and introspection.

As you said, it's fun, so you might have just marveled at the experience. The medical setting is a controlled environment, with clear goals, setup, protocol and licensed professionals on site. Also, the integration step after the experience is crucial for therapeutic success.

High-fiving your partner after having what can potentially be amazing shroom sex doesn't count as integration / therapy. Mind you, I don't mean to be offensive in any way, what you described is amazing and fun, but probably not therapy. It's okay to do every so often though.

Also, very experienced people can attain therapeutic effects tripping on their own, but that's generally not recommended at all. Shrooms have incredible potential, but it's not a cure-all medicine that mystically solves all mental issues simply by tripping - you still have to put in the work.

I'd like to dispel the notion that shrooms replace therapy - they assist it greatly.

  • You know what, this post is great for not only one, but two reasons: you decided to do something nice for another person, and you are getting to try a new skill in the process.

Both things make me happy for you. Have fun!

  • Who says you're not normal? I can imagine many people are bad at tracking the time required for the desired cleaning result, or stick to wisdom they learned as kids, which might be outdated.

That being said, your hunch about the effectiveness seems to be correct:

It seems children and people that need assistance whens brushing profit most from an electric toothbrush. My dentist recommended I use an ET, so I got an ultrasonic one, which resulted in a stark difference in how clean my mouth felt. It broke since then and I got a regular ET, but much like you, I love that the device tells me when I'm done or if I'm applying too much pressure, so personally, I can't imagine going back to manual.

  • I also currently use it for a new project since all needed 3rd party libraries are from a very specific domain and the project has a deadline, so writing and testing wrappers for Rust that would provide me with any meaningful advantages down the road are too costly to budget for before the deadline.

That could become part of a future refactoring, though.

  • They do make managed switches, but just to be completely clear, my comment was mostly hyperbole. I just found the general combination of security - mindedness and cheap Chinese hardware curious / amusing.

  • I was wondering... that tp-link probably negates anything remotely resembling security on its own. But yeah, you can update some of these noname boxes easily, others, not so much.

I have dealt with (in a professional capacity) Chinese manufacturers that are under the impression they do not have to provide a working build tree for the kernel, let alone firmware, so its a gamble if you're not talking to a major Chinese name brand. Mind you, I was ordering hundreds of those boxes, so there was some leverage.

  • Even if they paid the kid only, I dunno, $100 million, how many community mods could have been paid with the remaining $93 million?

How anyone can believe that it is possible for any single person to do something so meaningful in the same 24 hours we each share every day that they deserve payment so drastically disproportionate, so...disgustingly obscene, really, is beyond me.

  • Yeah, but they made the thread and mentioned not speaking English well enough and they were really getting confused and anxious by a bunch of us claiming the only way to turn this situation around is to demolish the building - at that point, some helpful reassurance was in order.

The gist of what I said was: the wall is fine, the manufacturer assures a point load of 70kg for the installation layer (so basically 70kg per screw), looking at some local regulations will give you an idea of how heavy a kitchen wall cabinet can get (going at it from this angle is helpful in case you need to discuss liabilities at some point), distribute that load over screws mounted at proper distances, add a safety margin and you should be good.

  • Don't be alarmed, your wall is fine, people in the other thread simply didn't understand that you're not in the US and assumed what you were showing in your pictures was the DIY'ed framing for an actual, load bearing wall.

The comment mentioned you should tear down your wall was also directed at that, they assumed you had constructed a load bearing wall from levitating 2x2s and OSB board, in which you probably would want to start over, but that's not the case. Wall's fine.

I posted a comment in the other thread as well, you might want to check that out.
