Unfortunately that is the case. However, I like to use both, Joplin for quick notes and Obsidian for larger collections of notes. I find switching between notebooks in Joplin much faster than between vaults in Obsidian. Yeah, everyone seeme to prefer different note taking apps. Might have to try silverbullet though as well as “Trilium”, which someone else suggested that looks similar to Obsidian.

I like that Luanti already has a really cool community making loads of different “games”! Furefox I agree, Android I agree, Lemmy is debatable.

Krita seems great. Unfortunately I am not of the artistic type so I can’t really comment on its functionality, but I would say my experience moving from Illustrator to Inkscape has been awesome! (I still can’t figure out how to make lines with inkscape though…the making lines button makes stretched out ovals instead…maybe it thinks I’m making a polygon?)

Nice to know that linux support the strange 360 degree laptops. I probably still won’t bother backing up all my data and reinstalling everything though. Will definitely try linux if I ever get a new computer, since I would have to install and set up a bunch of things if that happens anyways. I agree that I am a lazy boy but I also have exams coming up soon, so I need to prepare for that vs installing linux

GDScript is way easier than C#, and there’s C# support in Godot so you can choose between either! I also like that Godot us a lot lighter :D

Previously on my old laptop it took a good half a minute for a MOUSE CLICK to register (I have since gotten a newer laptop that can most definitely handle unity, but I’ve gotten used to godot’s workflow and I don’t want to go back to unity)

Never tried Google’s face detection, but given that their search AI told people to eat rocks daily, I’m not surprised. Yeah, Immich looks great. I need to set that up soon, trying to set my old laptop with docker

True. I hate that MS office pushes you to yse onedrive. Also, onedrive’s syncing is horrible.

It puts all your synced folders into a separate but not really sort of “OneDrive” folder. It doesn’t sync very well from my experience. And I lost a bunch of my data due to OneDrive not backing up properly. Now I use pCloud, which actually syncs things in a sane way (ie not creating two separate folders called “OneDrive” and “OneDrive - [workplace name]”) and also have a way better desktop app (you don’t need to navigate the stupid toolbar menu thing to get to settings, pcloud just has an app with organised menus! surely MS has enough funding to make a good onedrive desktop app? right?)

markdown support and recording notes offline are both, in my opinion, essential features for a note-taking app that evernote strangely don’t have

IDEs are kind of plug and play, things like debuggers and compilers come with them making it nice and easy. A code editor requires you to jump through a few hoops by installing plugins and such. You can achieve the same thing with both, but an IDE, as the name suggests, is all integrated.

Well just throwing away my phone us a really bad idea, don’t want to add to the e-waste. For the time being, I’ll try to use the phone until it dies before switching to a new phone.

Proprietary CAD/design software is very subjective. I’ve seen many people saying that the proprietary stuff is more “professional” and that FOSS software isn’t. I don’t work in thise kind of workflows so I can’t comment on that, but my personal experience with things like kdenlive and inkscape have been AWESOME
