can anyone ELI5 why music streaming never fragmented like TV streaming did?
An album being exclusive to a particular platform seem to be incredible rare. TV platform continuously remove things from the catalog to reduce costs but that does not seem to happen often in music.
I guess is people were using the oracle VM without license and were caught.
Oracle makes it very easy to not notice that the Java distribution you download requires payment.
This is a false dichotomy. There is absolutely no reason to do both.
And honestly, people who advocate for animal welfare tend to also be more outspoken against human suffering.
I've been enjoying the game a lot. My kids did complain that the battle mode is so barebones. 8 had a lot of battle modes. Going back to just balloons and coins is not great.
But I haven't seen reviews complaining about this so I guess nobody really cares
there is a very extreme reactionary version of catholicism in the US (like Vance). I dont know much about this new guy but at least he doesnt seem in that track.
I think he realized his papacy was not going to be enough to make a tangible change so he stacked the deck in his favour by creating a lot of new cardinals. This way it was most likely someone like him would succeed him.
theoretically the whole curia should obey the pope, but in reality it is a very large appartus that is very hard to steer, I doubt we'll see meaningful changes.
I remember the first years of Francis reign, there was a lot of shift and scandals but also a lot of pushback. Eventually things became quieter and back to 'business as usual'. The same happened with Benedict, it was clear he quit due to his inability to steer the institution.
I think that is the reason Francis made so many cardinals.
I think that if that was feasible a successful project would exist already to develop it. it is not like people does not want it to exist. sure, there are tons of projects making variations of existing browsers but none of them do much besides minor tweaks.
From the top of my head Servo is the closest one and it has a big head start since mozilla developed originally. and that is just an engine, not a full browser.
while they have made a lot of dumb decisions, they are also in an almost impossible situation. every time they try to diversify their income they get hammered hard by the community.
would people show up for these?
honestly, going to the cinema is expensive as hell and often not even that good. In days when people have 65' (or larger) 4k TVs with an Atmos soundbar what is the benefit of going to the cinema? Sure, cinemas often have better quality picture and sound, but not always, I've experienced my fair share of bad theaters.
Living outside the US, it also means that I only get subtitled screenings instead of dubbed ones for large blockbusters, which is very annoying.
If find myself in a bit of a paradox. I want more diverse movies to be made, but honestly I doubt I would go to the cinema to watch them when I can do it more comfortably at home.
as a person raised in what was a very conservative catholic household in latin america, I feel like there is a new wave of very reactionary catholicism coming from the US that makes the Opus Dei or Legionaireslook like reasonable people.
