  • I mean, they basically already have.. It cost $165/person for a passport that can go anywhere but Canada and Mexico. Over $600 for a family before you can even go anywhere. For probably 90% of families, that sort of disposable income is a dream when most people can't afford a $500 emergency expense.

  • My opinion is that Skype was killed by the smartphone. I used Skype from probably 2003-ish to 2008 as my only source of a home phone number to interact with people who had a phone number, as I did not have or want a cell phone or a landline. After that, I got a cell phone that people could call me on, replacing my need for skype a s aphone number source, and then various video chat and voice calling apps came along completely replacing the functionality I was using Skype for. Then when Microsoft bought it, that put a very sour taste in my mouth at the time, and there was no looking back.

  • On one hand, all they might have to do is tell people "if you want one, come and get it" and that problem would be sort of solved. But then for every one that gets turned into something useful, probably 20 of them will be left in a barn or something, not really solving the problem..

  • Wait, so bitwarden's support is only a mechanism to save other systems passkey? Or is it a mechanism to originate a passkey, as an alternative to Google and friends? My conception of what is going on might be off, as well.. So.. Feel free to enlighten..
