  • Do they usually comment on fan news? Pokémon Showdown (which just removed Sleep Clause from their formats, and instead banned most of the moves that cause sleep) is a fan site; the official format is VGC which has never had Sleep Clause.

  • From the link:

Prismic is still early in development and not yet in a usable state. Most of the features described below are planned but not yet or only partially implemented.

I don't think it looks like anything, yet.

  • I really like the Suicide Squad conceptually, but their tie-in media is just not cutting it, eh? I had a bad feeling about this one as soon as they announced it would be a live-service game.

Maybe it's time to check out the comics, even though I'm not much of a comic reader usually. If there are good Suicide Squad stories, they must be hiding in the original media! (I did like the 2016 movie, but I got the impression that was not the most popular opinion.)

  • Yeah I haven't done this with a gas nozzle, but I walk off without stuff I need and which I was just holding basically every day, so I will probably manage this feat of incredible stupidity eventually.

  • This always reminds me of the Perfectly Normal Beasts from Mostly Harmless.

  • What the hell is up with the board and notation? The board is off by 90 degrees, the bottom left square should be black (unless we're looking from the side, but the labels suggest we're not, because the letters are across the bottom like normal). And then if you actually look at the file and rank labels, they don't match across the board—the leftmost file is marked "a" on the bottom, but "h" on the top, and the ranks are the same way.

They specifically designed it to annoy chess players, LMAO.

  • Signs point to no:

"We are open to all countries that respect our sovereignty and territorial integrity at the peace summit, so draw conclusions about who we invite," Zelenskyy said.

  • It's not super clear, but probably for ignoring directions from the organizers who tried to get him to stop impersonating Owen Wilson (for some reason) and stop telling people to tweet @AirCanada.

I think the ban has run out and he can submit runs again by now, but these are the kind of petty grudges I like to hold!

  • I told my dog I'm going to lay off sharing my food with her, because I think eating too much of whatever crap I was eating was starting to affect her health; I noticed her licking the air, which is a sign of nausea. She now believes I don't love her anymore and howls mournfully whenever I am eating. 🤦‍♂️

  • Edit: Sorry, meant to reply to the comment above you!

They're not really leases either. Leases last for a defined period of time, like "one year," or they renew at regular intervals, like "monthly." "Pay up front and we'll let you keep this license for either forever or until we decide to revoke it without notifying you" isn't the same thing.

  • "Captain America converts Thor to Christianity" could be very funny, actually.

  • From 1962, the GDR also introduced general compulsory military service for all men between the ages of 18 and 26 for a basic military service of 18 months. The only recognized reason for refusal was religious conviction.

So if you believed in a god who told you it was immoral to serve in the military you didn't have to, but if you believed it was immoral because you came to that conclusion by thinking critically about the arguments for and against military service, you were just fucked?

  • Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents: predictably, all squares.

  • For some reason I get an urge to stockpile cigs every time they announce this, despite smoking less than a pack a year and not smoking menthols at all. Weird hoarding instinct.

  • I think it's more like "why are they bothering?" Like, usually for these kinds of single-player games, the reviews improve over time because once the nature of the game is well known, new prospective buyers are more likely to be correct about whether they'll like it or not, so new reviews are mostly from people who self-selected for being likely to enjoy the game.

So either people are getting worse at knowing if they'll like Starfield before they buy it, or they're buying it despite knowing they probably won't like it so they can leave a negative review, or people who bought it at release are going back and reviewing it months later.

  • That mothers shouldn't co-sleep with infants. Every other primate I know of co-sleeps with their offspring. Until very recently every human mother co-slept with her infants, and in like half of the globe people still do. Many mothers find it incredibly psychologically stressful to sleep without their infant because our ancestors co-slept every generation for hundreds of thousands of years.

I would bet money that forcing infants to sleep alone has negative developmental effects.

  • I have not read any stats on coin spinning, so I don't know!
