  • "...or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State,"

The district court ruling actually followed your line of thinking, that because the president is specifically called out, that office is exempt from this clause. The state supreme court referenced many documents contemporary to the writing of the 14th amendment indicating that is not the case, and the present absolutely falls under "any office under the United States".

  • My tinfoil hat theory is that the district judge did not want to be responsible for keeping trump off the ballot, be it safety for her/her family, or that it is such a momentous event that she did not feel comfortable bearing that weight alone. So she came up with this "not specifically references" conclusion as a soft punt to the state supreme court.

  • Absolute killer list of bands. Call of the Mountain has to be in my top 5 best songs ever written.

And I've never heard a bad song from Sabaton.

I'll also add Nightwish to the list for symphonic metal. I tend to favor their older stuff, Dark Chest of Wonder would be a great entry point into them.

  • Fusion360 tracks everything you do and keeps it in a parametric(?) timeline, which lets you go back in time to make a design change, and that change is automatically applied all the way to your present time design.

  • Yeah it's nuts. However there are a huge number of open-access journals, and they are becoming more common. BMC/PLOS are the big ones in my field (biology/genetics).

PLOS still charges a fee if your institution is not part of their "network", and it's not cheap, but their articles are free for all to access.
