Obama’s blunt message for Democrats: ‘Toughen up’

  • Business is the original idiom and it didn't originally mean "stay out of mine." It originally meant to should make your own prosperity your primary focus. A similar modern phase that would capture what it originally meant might be "Keep hustlin."

  • Part of this is people obviously not thinking about one per hundred and just giving a random percentage like number. Everything is clustered around 25, and 50 percent. This isn't reasonably measuring much(if anything as I can assure you nobody believes 90 percent of people live in either Texas, California, or NYC). The headline should be "don't poll people by asking what they think about qualitatively and asking them to translate it into quantitative percentages because you'll receive nonsense." Trying to reach other conclusions from such absolute noise really is just making things up.

  • The real dumb thing about this is these farms do not need sustained labor. They want temporary transient labor for specific bursts like picking crops. It's been that way since the abolishment of slavery. And no citizen wants to be migratory labor yet, the bottom hasn't quite dropped that far out of the economy. Cyberpunk nomad clans have yet to be a reality.

  • I'm speaking from ignorance but isn't the server backend often licensed and they couldn't release it if they wanted, even as binaries? Granted, going forward they'd have to make those considerations before they accept restrictive licenses in core parts of their game. And the market for those licenses will change accordingly. So there core of your argument is correct.

  • Anyone with isotonic fluid loss. Alcoholics for instance. People who lose a lot of salt with their sweat(this is both an individual variation and a very well studied version of heat adaption, athletes and outdoor workers end up with b dilute sweat a week or two after they start experiencing heat stress). True dehydration (increased osmolality) triggers thirst but isotonic fluid deficiency may not

  • Just from food. I'm heat adapted and exercise adapted and my sweat is decidedly not salty. I don't use AC and went through that recent US east coast heat wave, so I'm comfortable at 90f/32C. I don't lose a lot from sweat.

  • In this case they're trying to sue the government itself which has sovereign immunity, not qualified. Congress passed a law that allowed some channels past that sovereign immunity but the courts have been very conservative as to how it's interpreted. That's the federal torts claims act. One of the key things it doesn't cover is intentional torts. So if someone though negligence hit you in the mouth and knocked the teeth out, you can sue. If, by contrast, they did it through malice and battery you cannot but you can break through their personal qualified immunity if you could prove malice. Good luck
