  • Simple Solitaire Collection has lots of different solitaire variants. No riddles, but you do have to think a lot. "Napoleon's Tomb" and "Simple Simon" are two interesting variants I learned about from this game. (Simple Simon has simple rules but can be incredibly hard.)

Free, no ads, no dark patterns.

  • Shattered Pixel Dungeon is a really good, well polished, roguelike. It may be on the fringes of your request, it's not really a "puzzle" game, but you do need to think a lot to weigh your options constantly.

  • IMO, everything has to do with piracy.

Ever since the r4 for the DS spring boarded Nintendo piracy, every single console they've released since then has been ripped open and has had very easy-to-use tools developed for it to make it really, really, easy to put pirated games on. You can buy a flashcard from amazon with DS games on it. You can mod a 3ds in 15 minutes. You can play switch games on the steam deck.

They hate this. They want to do everything they can to lock down their systems and prevent this.

On the Wii (or maybe it was 3ds or Wii U) when updating, you used to get a notification "...this update will also check for unauthorized material and remove it." Now they're simply saying it there's unauthorized stuff they're not going to account for it and let things break (or force it to break)

Now they're locking down the usb-c port, again making it harder to crack the console. They failed with every console this far, so now they're trying something different.

In the long run it may get cracked eventually. But for now, like denuvo, it delays piracy.

  • This is because the gifts must be tossed in the hole. The hole that runs the company. Because the company is run by a hole.

Once the hole is filled the company dies and you are free.

  • Kleenex, tissue. Band aid, bandage. Xerox, copy. IPad, tablet (some people call their android tablets iPads) Plucker, flosser.

It's not really that bad. Some are even shorter:

    Google, search. Invisalign, retainer.

    Some are iffy:

Sharpie, permanent marker. (You could just say marker, depending on if you have any other markers in the house to disambiguate from.)

And some are definitely shorter as brand names:

Q-tip, cotton swab Velcro, hook and loop Sawzall, reciprocating saw

(And if there was a shorter name for "oscillating multi tool" I would be so happy.)

I can't think of any others.

  • It's still good. It's great even. The best part is you can't "leak" an RSS address so when you subscribe to something you won't be added to spam without you knowing. It's a great medium.

I got a glorious 32" IPS monitor and I'm confused and disappointed.

After upgrading from Ubuntu Jellyfish to Numbat, my desktop seems broken? Super key doesn't open menu, dark theme/settings doesn't work. How can I fix this?
