  • In the diagram you can substitute that word for any non-mainstream sexual or gender thing. It really doesn't matter what - they'll scapegoat anything as long as it's a minority, elicits disgust from the in-crowd and reinforces any of the things it connects to with dashed lines.

Pedophilia is a good one because it relates to 'defending women & children', makes the enemy look weak, causes sexual anxiety and elicits [disgust](https://www.ecosia.org/search?q=conservatives disgust morality&addon=firefox&addonversion=4.1.2&method=topbar). Hence '[Save the children](https://duckduckgo.com/?q=qanon %27save the children%27&t=h_&ia=web)' and all that.

The diagram maps the conceptual framework behind it all - it's best not to get too literal about any of the individual words.

  • That's a part of it for sure but there's a lot more going on also:

  • I look forward to those causing climate disruption facing a judge.

  • This kind of disruption is exactly what climate change is doing - negativity affecting people just trying to go about their lives and make ends meet. Dumb decisions are being made which causes people with no choice in the matter to suffer.

The question is - why are you angry when poor people do it (on a limited scale, for a few hours) but not angry when rich & powerful people do it (to everyone, forever)?

That's the genius of this kind of protest.

  • Check out the literature.cafe instance, people there will know a good community to post in.

  • Still worth it, for the latency elimination alone. But also I expect a SSD would saturate the IDE connection whereas a HDD rarely would.

  • Windows 2000 was the peak - rock solid with no visual fluff. XP was 2000 with a childish skin on it and it's all downhill from there.

  • Seems like a worthy experiment to me. I'll be leaving it turned on, for now.

  • Bring earplugs. Multiple pairs.

There's always more noise than there should be.

  • Read "How Fascism Works" by Jason Stanley.

  • Yes for sure, the first few days in a new place are a shaky time - they're likely to wander off trying to get back to their old home. Years ago we had a cat that went all the way across town to our old place (about 2km?), twice. But generally once they're well settled in they won't go far and it shouldn't be an ongoing problem.

  • Thanks, I spent a couple of hours playing around with that. It didn't work quite right but still I've got some glorious retro ugliness going on. A mishmash of CDE, Windows 2000 icons and KDE 5, it's mental and I love it.

  • Yes although I'm more troubled by what we do to ourselves when we imply that sometimes political assassination is ok. On the left, integrity matters not because the opponents might one day be swayed by it but because without it we have already become what we fight against.
