  • Hey, 0.8 inches is completely acceptable and it gets the job done. It's not the size of the dingy but the motion in the ocean...or in this case it's not how much you fill the graduated cylinder but how dry the soil is.

On a more serious note, this has the potential to become a huge tragedy; there are 10's of thousands of people out there with limited resources and more rain is coming. I hope that things stay under control.

  • Congress, especially the Senate, is turning into a fucking nursing home. McConnel should do the right thing and retire now, because it's obvious that he is not capable of actually performing his duties and is therefore letting down his constituents. I have this crazy suspicion that he won't, though.

  • Even better, Zillow, where this "journalist" got their info, gets that sales data from those public records. Lazy reporting like this just spreads misinformation. I would be ashamed to put my name on the byline of this shit.

  • Give me your name and the state you live in and I could probably find your address, phone number, age, the name of your spouse, siblings and other family members, maiden name (if applicable), previous addresses, and even arrests, with about 10-30 minutes of googling and using only the top 1-3 results. Unless your name is John Smith or something very common, then it would be much more difficult. So, yes, it is public information and nobody has to have had to leak it.

  • After watching Jan 6th, I don't think a civil war is on the horizon. Most people are too soft and comfortable. Hell, there was one lady that stormed the capitol, got maced, and then complained about it to a reporter. When she was asked why she stormed the capitol she said, "It's a revolution, man!"

Also, you can't really divide the country up geographically by left or right (more people in California voted for Trump than in almost every other state, for example). So, no, I'm not worried about a civil war.

That being said, I don't see the far-right disappearing anytime soon. There are powerful people that benefit too much by having our society divided, and it's not just in the US where this is happening.

  • I'd like to be at a dinner with the Obama's and the Bush's because I think the conversation would be fascinating and likely hilarious. I think that you can disagree with Bush's politics and think he was a terrible president but still recognize that he isn't a total asshole of a person.
