Free market doesn't mean that all rules go out the window. Colluding over prices eliminates the natural competition that occurs in a free market. That is why it is generally prohibited, though businesses still try it from time to time and they (rightly) get in trouble for it.

I was looking through comments to see if anyone noticed this part. I have to believe that he doesn't really think world leaders are actual lizards and its actually more of a performance art piece or something.

If he's serious about it... I just don't know how humanity went so wrong.

What's extra annoying about this is that in his story, his mom gets screwed over by the hospital so rather than thinking to complain or go elsewhere he thinks 'yah im gonna invest in that'. Investing in bad actors like that just reinforces their shitty behavior.

Because truthfully the president doesn't make enough difference if Congress continues to be absolutely fucking useless.

I hate how true this is. Honestly we need to have a better strategy for the legislature than we do now. Assuming that it will go the same way as the president or ignoring it because it isn't one of the "big" elections is why every dem in the last 20 years has gotten roadblocked in moving forward any real progressive policy.

When I saw the name I thought it would be a video rental store simulator, which had me way more excited than it should have. The actual game sounds pretty cool and worth checking out but I am a little disappointed. I would still kind of like to see an 80s video rental sim even though I can't see it having mass appeal.

Is this in response to the antitrust stuff they've been dealing with in Europe? I thought they had tried to split software into different "services" before to avoid oversight (I think they did it with their web browser).

I mean, most of these AI tools are getting a lot of training data from social media. Would you want any of the yokels on Twitter or Reddit having access to nukes? Because those statements are what you'd hear from them right before they push the big red button.

I agree, but I do think that is kind of the point with him.

I do not get every other character's willingness to overlook it and treat him like just another quirky member of the gang. I mean, Tanisha has no social skills but she's at least clever and has some clear utility to the Raiders.

Exactly. Saying that one state doesn't have the right to make the call is basically saying they can't enforce constitutionally based rules. If that is the case then everything would have to go to federal court, and the states would have a lot less control over their own electoral process.

This isn't a great example of ROI calculations. When companies calculate staff costs they factor in benefits, shared services costs (HR, IT Helpdesk, etc). Even if the ai wasn't cheaper than the salary alone, benefits put that much higher.

However, it doesn't really matter. Low or no ROI isn't going to stop the AI cult from selling snake oil products to companies with the promise of "savings", real or not. C suite types will say its a better long term investment in new technology and tools, or that multiple applications of an ai service allow costs to be spread across the business.

Hopefully this will get Washington's attention.

I suspect it wouldn't be 49 other states- I'd bet that there's several other equally stupid states that would happily join them. Definitely Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and maybe Florida would join in. But I bet if Biden tried to call their bluff and pull all govt funding and military bases from those states they would freak out and change their tunes fast.
