  • omigosh their ribbon/bow is so cute!🥹❤️

  • congrats to jellygiggler69😂

great name to attach an official award to lamo

  • yup and for disambiguation purposes,

    • users can ask their questions here or any other related community that they want🤗

there's also the option to ask users directly for help too✨

  • it's not offensive,

    • just something people wouldn't want to see if they've set NSFW disabled so it's just common courtesy in marking our posts properly

    anyways thanks!

  • For new Linux users a good start would be YouTube vids

after that I'd personally recommend the Arch Linux Wiki as it's a well regarded and well known encyclopedia for anything you'd need/want to know about most Linux related things

beyond the Arch Linux wiki, you'd probably be looking at the Linux kernel documentation or Gentoo's docs/wiki

  • if you wouldn't mind
    please mark as NSFW~

  • thank you!
I've added hyfetch to the post🤗

sorry I didn't do it earlier, had to deal with family stuff!

  • it's why I made the TLDW summary as I wanted to save everyone's time🤗

  • on distros that have more recent packages, like Fedora.

    ah you're right!

😳I asked a stupid question as I should've checked the Tech Compendium (ArchLinux Wiki) before asking😅

    thanks! +1

  • A third player is absolutely welcome to the game

definitely agreed as more competition drives better products for lower prices to consumers✨

just wondering but do you happen to know if Intel's gpus are good for all Linux distros?

    • last I heard was that they're primarily supporting Ubuntu (I could be wrong about this)
  • The Steves are right that if A.I is still as profitable for both AMD and Nvidia by then, expect prices to go up for any flagship. It wouldn't make any business sense not to.

    you have a good point

although I have to wonder if we'll have to wait 2 years:

    • if the next gpus are midrange and NVIDIA happens to launch their next flagship sooner than AMD, then AMD's confirming to take a loss in marketshare which would be pretty bad as they're currently being cornered/squeezed on both sides
    • Intel's launching their next gpus pretty soon and their performance gains from improved drivers has been pretty surprising/honestly pretty impressive as I personally didn't expect much from them on the gpu front

    currently for:

    • budget gpus Intel seems like a good option
    • flagship gpus (power efficiency be dammed), NVIDIA is a no brainer
    • best Linux support (currently) AMD gpus are the go to

however for the vast majority of users, people will look for gpus with Windows in mind so in reality it might be just Intel and NVIDIA oddly enough

    • Intel's providing great budget friendly cards
    • NVIDIA's serving cash whales
  • With the 7900 XTX currently being around

    • $900 USD and
    • $1300 CAD...

at what price point do you think AMD will release their next gen flagship?

  • I wonder if this is where AI might be useful where it's used to filter out all of the megacorp ads, popups, and other random garbage?

    • train LLMs on megacorp content and use it to filter out results
      • sponsorblock adds this as a toggleable option just like the "skip segment" UI video overlay button
  • ah that's my bad that's probably an accidental Koreanism

  • of course👍

the sites that would benefit users the most from implementing these would be those that retains user sensitive information:

    • shopping
    • banking
    • sns
    • medical
  • tbh this might be a good thing (not talking about amazon)

    • as it normalizes MFA/2FA/TOTP
      • which would help increase adoption
        • and therefore it would increase users' security hygiene
  • tbh it's the same here although I'm starting to see an upwards trend in positive and wholesome activity🌻
