  • Feels too bulky and complicated for an e-bike or handheld lawn tools, riding lawn mower though... maybe?

If the AC to DC conversion is done inside the device then a kettle plug seems like enough to effectively max out a standard outlet. If it's being done outside of the device I guess it depends on the wattage they can pull, USB-C could do 240W... idk if there is another standard that can carry ~1KW of DC power.

  • The HDR part is what kills me, if anything HDR seems to compress better than SDR. So it's not even a bandwidth thing to provide 1080p HDR.

And the 4K upcharge was fine when I could share it with my siblings since it gave us 4 streams at once. Now I only would need 1 stream, so I can't even get the full benefit of what I would pay for.

  • Yeah Tesla really needs to get longer cables at their charging stations if they want to be the standard, I know the V4 chargers will have a bit longer cables but they haven't really rolled those out. The current chargers are like the bare minimum length and only if you put it on the far edge of the car be it the rear drivers or like something on the hood.

Now that said the lead photo was obviously maximum jackass, but you see further down a car has to park in the "wrong" spot to reach the charger since it is on the passenger side inside of drivers side.

  • I agree that's a high possibility, either way though I like to respond to posts like that for other potential readers. If OP wants to admit they are wrong, great, but it's important we counter these kinds of posts with facts so others understand the truth as I agree disinformation is a powerful tool so it needs to be cut off at the knees.

  • I thought of that too and I realized they must already have a channel to get rid of discs since they would need to dwindle down numbers after a new release is no longer in huge demand, it sounds like they also cull some old releases entirely based on the comments here.

I know GameFly sells their used games directly to consumers, but Netflix must be selling them in bulk to someone since they never do that. Unless they are getting like for rental only discs and have some sort of deal with studios where they have to return/discard them or something.

  • Xfinity’s 10G network is technically slower than 5G. Peak theoretical throughput on an uncongested 5G network offers up to 20Gbps download and 10Gbps upload. Xfinity caps out at 10Gbps down and up.

In what world are people getting that kind of speed on 5G? In like a lab with perfect conditions and non-consumer equipment? Is this article written by T-Mobile home internet or something? I'll take Comcast 10G over 5G wireless any day and I hate Comcast.

I automatically assumed 10G was short for 10Gb/s, so I guess I found nothing confusing about the name? They literally are advertising the speed in the name, I think that's great compared to when they called shit "Blast" and other weird names.

  • Nights might make it easier? My problem was the stores were only open while I was working, I had basically a 1 hour window to get to the store before it closed at 6pm (thankfully just a week or so ago they are now open until 8pm).

It's definitely a weird dilemma of if we all work the same hours, how does anyone with a job actually go to these places?

  • I mean it's not worse than they were, but if you are buying a laptop just to play games it's not really the platform for you.

I buy Macs to do work on, I think a lot of people continue to use them to do work on past college. Plenty of people also have consoles, so having a computer that can do both well isn't even a priority for all gamers none the less the ton of people who don't play AAA games.

  • Will they ever bring back target display mode? I can't imagine having a 32" screen that can't be used with anything but the built in computer. I feel like a ton of people have work computers like me who would want to use this as an external display.

  • I can click on you and see the same stats for you... though the numbers seems too low when I eyeball it compared to your comments, but I'm thinking maybe it's just total points for a single lemmy server?

  • Yeah this is where taxing these negative externalities would help to curb the demand of wasteful products and thus lower waste produced by corporations.

We can't expect corporations to just do the right thing out of the goodness of their hearts, because the products would cost more and the masses would just purchase the cheaper more waste producing products. We need to level the playing field by taxing pollution and waste.

  • Since when has Facebook had the best content? I mean I could see them getting a large user base and lots of content, but I have never looked at Facebook or Instagram and wished that content was on another platform. So I guess I'm not too worried.
