  • I have no idea lol, they mostly talk about topics that are trending on X, Instagram, TikTok, etc.

  • The more real-world ramification of this is that you'll be able to watch alt-right and alt-light news channels on your TV that you otherwise might not be able to, like Real America's Voice. Unless they add Spaces support (which it doesn't seem clear that they did), I don't see another significant use case for this.

  • Why would this increase costs? I doubt Elon Musk is spending much money on the development of this, and I don't see many people using this app so I doubt it'd hike hosting and bandwidth demands significantly.

  • I'm pretty sure half of the people on X don't like Elon Musk, or care about him enough to form an opinion on him.

  • Phew, I thought I was the only one here lol. This whole situation has me wondering what Brazil is trying to do that they're so afraid will be talked about on X.

  • Wait people didn't join Mastodon as well? Just Bluesky?

  • True, we have some common ground on that front.

  • I've never met a community as predictable as Lemmy users 😂

  • The comment section will support this because right wingers are the victims this time, and Elon Musk bad.

Did Elon bungle this? Certainly, but X being banned is Brazil is a net negative.

  • Not like in a "find the votes" sense, but yes they used their power to sway the election at the behest of the government. There's no way you don't know this already.

  • Yes. And so did Zuckerberg. Did you not hear what he said? He admitted to it this week.

  • It's pretty much happening now, although the president isn't the one saying stuff like this, it's the people prosecuting him.

  • I mean...he did lower taxes.

He signed off on the Keystone XL pipeline as well.

In fact, Trump oversaw the greatest increase in Oil production during his tenure, which likely helped keep oil and gas prices low during that time frame:

With international affairs, he got along well enough with even enemies like Kim Jong Un to be able to set foot into North Korea, which no president has ever done before.

He supported sanctions that Iran's economy so that, among other things, they couldn't fund terror operations like October 7th.

  • Pretty well except for exploding inflation and the deficit through the COVID-19 stimulus checks, and the relatively slow construction and repair of border wall

  • Lower taxes, increasing oil production, stronger negotiations with world powers, securing the border, etc.
