I am far away from being a pro and own several Bosch Blue tools that were all rather cheap. You can buy them in every hardware store. Fein, Hilti etc. are usually far more expensive. As I don't own them, I can't compare the quality but I'd say Bosch Blue is mostly a consumer brand.
Aren't you comparing getting married to being married here? I guess if you got married 11 times, you should be quite good in the process of getting married like knowing all the procedures, organizing everything, finding the right words etc.
You might even get a special rebate as you probably know the staff of the involved companies better than your spouses at this rate.
Unless there's (close to) a monopoly or all players in the market are acting accordingly. For products where simply not buying it anymore is not really a viable option, that greedy approach works out quite fine unfortunately.
From my perspective that's just a rebranding. I dived there years ago and already there it was protected for much longer.
Created in 1996, this [Mar de Las Calmas Marine Reserve] protects the richest marine area of El Hierro, which has a highly diverse and well-preserved underwater fauna and flora.
Not sure if I'd want to pull his daughter into this mess but in general answering with an equally faked video would be a genius marketing stunt. Maybe a video where Elon writes 'I must not share manipulated videos' to a chalk board like Bart in the Simpsons.
I have no clue what that standard certifies but I was able to find several such phones immediately on the German Amazon like this one for 140€ (around $150 right now) from a brand that I never heard of.
Is that a protected term where you live? In Germany a lot of products, including the cheapest and crappiest ones, are advertised as military grade and that doesn't give any indication on quality or durability.
If someone offers the slimmest phone, I have some doubts regarding structural integrity. Especially, the way I (unintentionally) often treat my phone, it'll probably bend or break within weeks.
If you don't find instances or communities that have a level of moderation you appreciate, you could still start your own imstance with your own/no rules and federate with the Lemmy universe.
However, if 'your' rules are too controversial, you might not find other people willing to engage with your communities and other instances might even decide to block your server.
I feel that people and discussions on Lemmy are less toxic compared to Reddit. With less toxic I mean less insults, less provocations, less trolling etc. and more (from my perspective) valuable and deeper discussions instead. And a generally more supportive and open-minded attitude.
Main reason is probably that a large part of Lemmy users is quite homogeneous: left leaning, IT focused, rather young people etc. You always have to bear in mind that opinions here are not necessarily representative for the society as a whole.
Regarding trolling: I personally rarely appreciate trolls and I'm happy that mods are setting certain boundaries in the communities I engage with.
I think such questions are hard to answer in general. I would say a person living in one (small to normal sized) flat and owning + renting another isn't worse than one person 'occupying' just one but bigger livingspace. If an old lady lives alone in a big house where there are sufficient rooms for 6 people+ she's taking away as much property from the market as the small-scale landlord. Sure that's not optimal for society but I also wouldn't necessarily consider that unethical.
If there is a housing crisis in an area, one can argue that short time rentals are evil but also short term rentals are important to some extent. If everything becomes an AirBnb that's obviously bad but I think there's also a healthy amount of that. If a city or region has a lot of tourists or business travellers, they need to live somewhere and traditional hotels don't work for everyone.
From my perspective, there must be a healthy balance of personal livingspaces to buy, for long term rent, for short term rent and commercial buildings. Regulating that healthy ratio should be a task for politicians. Unfortunately, I have to admit that government regulation is not exactly working fine in most parts of the world.
In case you own a lot of devices with remotes, you might transform it into a universal remote with an USB C IR dongle. Wouldn't be my first choice as you'd still need to recharge it so often but I read of such projects.
Alternatively, you could give it to children for gaming and watching videos. Children are anyway mostly on WiFi and if you equip it with some emulators and ROMs they'll have tons of funny games without all of these toxic in-app purchases, ads and casino mechanisms.
From my perspective that's the best part of it. I don't ever drink coffee and only once or twice a year - if I'm going on a long road trip - I drink one energy drink. As far as I know they have a much lower dose in Europe (32 mg caffeine per 100 ml drink) compared to the US but still it has an immense effect to keep me awake etc.
