  • I'll start with saying I have pretty mediocre willpower.

I can definitely understand saying you're "addicted" to sugar. I find it really hard to resist going for sugary treats, and it takes a substantial effort to make better snack choices.

But I can put some honey in my yogurt in the morning and not go on a sugary bender, so I feel like it can't be as bad as hard drugs.

  • You can look online at what the upgrade parts cost. If you were upgrading to the AMD main board you're looking at $450-$700, versus $1200-1550 buying it new. The Intel i5 components are similar but i7 are a bit more expensive. Thus far they have been consistent about releasing upgraded components. You are locked in to buying from them though - so if they stop releasing upgrades you're out of luck.

If you don't need the latest and greatest, going used is going to still be a better value proposition.

  • Google has the functionality to give third party apps access to your YouTube account and that's all you're using here. I can imagine them eventually blocking it altogether, but I can't imagine them banning accounts for it.

  • Iced Earth guitarist was one of the first ones in the door on January 6th. The band pretty much said they disagree with his actions, but not his intent.

They said nothing about agreeing with his intent. They condemned his actions and left it at that.

It's also hard to say "the band" as Schaeffer is iced earth. He has been the only constant member and to my understanding owns the rights to their iconography and etc.

  • The big thing that convinced me Spotify is better as a music service is that it was able to successfully recommend me a band I like that has only 71 listeners, and is similar to another band I like with 140 listeners. YouTube struggles with even understanding what artists are similar to those two and just plays other stuff I listen to (that's unrelated) on artist radio.
