  • They also had to get sued by multiple states before they started offering refunds in the US. Valve doesn't do anything that doesn't make them money. They just have a longer term view towards profit than a publicly traded company. That's what lemmy/reddit doesn't understand.

  • No that's just how bad our system is that even this dev is saying if one of them stops working they'll be homeless. And the tech job market right now is the worst it's been since 2008, he may not have many options in reality.

Devs are still workers like everyone else even though a lot of them think they're above it all.

  • The comments on Reddit are way worse now, it's extremely noticeable. Look at comments on /r/science for example. They're all shitty jokes which used to get deleted.

The vast majority of subs are completely unmoderated now or taken over by a small group of people. Like /r/worldnews allowing people to openly support literal genocide of Arabs.

Reddit quality absolutely took a hit after this debacle.

  • Surely there was more to your previous move because Europe is far more different from the US than the southeast is from the northwest within the US.

Hell I got culture shock from being in Paris for a week, and I lived in Europe as a kid for years and speak some French.

  • Holy shit, for real.

If I could've taken a shot to make it go away and lead a healthy emotional life I would've done that in a heartbeat. It sucks so much to be around healthy people and know you'll never be like them. I don't resent them, in fact I'm happy for them, but holy shit the envy hurts so much.

  • Mac is proprietary bullshit that's why. It's fine for work usage. At home I want to support FOSS.

Also MacBooks are a ripoff. You get 6-8 years of support and then all updates stop. Not worth it when Linux support is indefinite, and even Windows gets you 10+ years.
