  • Except only one department is really bloated and problematic: defense. Yet that's the one department DOGE shys away from touching.

All while they gut departments that actually generate billions in revenue like the IRS, and give the wealthy tax breaks. They could also save hundreds of billions (more than DOGE has managed so far in all of their efforts) simply by passing single-payer healthcare for all, and a drug pricing plan similar to the Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme in Australia - the govt would negotiate cheap prices for necessary prescription medication in bulk direct to Pharma companies and provide them to the US people at a much lower cost.

In reality, none of DOGE's actions are to 'save taxpayers money' or make 'smaller government'. It's targeted sabotage to benefit the wealthy, and it looks like Elon is using it to grab all the data he can while he's there.

  • I have no strong opinion for/against legalizing cocaine, but your statements don't seem to align with the literature I've read on the lethal dose of alcohol vs cocaine - which I've always seen list alcohol as worse.

For example the chart below which measures the dose required for an active dose vs a lethal dose as a ratio - alcohol is worse.

    Source listed here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Drug_danger_and_dependence.svg

  • The trouble is really twofold, firstly the people that are most impacted with heavy disease and death from measles are small children (whom have no say in their vaccination status, and we as a community should protect), and the massive additional unnecessary burden that will be placed upon the already struggling healthcare systems.

Just like we saw with covid, this will cause necessary medical procedures & treatments to be delayed, medical staff burnout, and an overall rise in 'excess mortality'.

All because people have been listening to dipshits 'just asking questions' platforming antivaxxers and a rise in vaccine hesitancy due to mass propaganda online through poorly-regulated social media who value clicks and engagement (ragebait) over accuracy.

  • Discord is just another social media site that has a whole lot of people fooled into thinking it's not creating profiles on them for advertising. Gonna get real obvious real soon though.

I guess thats OK for community dev teams and stuff - like it works well, users can come and accesa the faq or support and leave. But it can leave a walled garden of data in there if they want to move elsewhere later though.

Larger issue is the people that share their whole lives there as a quasi-Facebook. That's all getting hoovered up and sold to the highest bidder - alongside data like exactly what activity you do on your PC (processes running when and where for how long etc - Discord monitors a lot)

  • Coupled with other recent actions by the White House and DHS I'd say it's very reasonable to file this under stochastic terrorism. They know the likely violent outcome, they are hoping for that outcome, but they're doing it under a guise of "just sharing information" with "a concerned public" whom are "under attack".

  • It gets thrown around a lot but Orwell's 1984 has a passage, the context in the book is the protanonist realizing specifically about how it is impossible to argue against the fascist party as they happily substitute alternate facts whenever desired, and mandate the loyal adopt them wholesale.

"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

    This is the chapter. https://george-orwell.org/1984/6.html

  • I mean the section you list 'reception' lists some vagueries about how it's been recieved (positively and negatively) in various countries but it's certainly not shouting out that it's unreliable.

Likewise the controversies section below has three relatively minor events over its entire history.

Hardly seems like a smoking gun..
