The profit motive was covered by the Pharaoh's exploitation of the entire nation of Egypt as his personal plantation and palace; each Pharaoh's Pyramid was the resulting useless passion project wasting all that accumulated profit. Albeit at reduced cost, considering the widespread use of corvee and legal limits on the ability of worker's to negotiate contracts with the agents of the Pharaoh compared to with non-government notables.
... most Israeli Jews are Sephardim, Mizrahi, or mixed. For that matter, Ashkenazi Jews tend to vote for less genocide-happy parties in the Knesset. And on top of that, a significant portion of people in the Levant do not have a particularly different phenotype from Mediterranean Europeans.
This is like when a bunch of people got up in arms over how 'white' the king of Jordan was. Like, fuck's sake, what the fuck is this neo-orientalism?
If voters have no civic interest and prefer masturbatory prejudices to serious consideration of civic duty, and if 'careerist' politicians are given immense power and wealth for stepping aside (either by retirement or by simple non-action when in office) thus rendering self-castration of their office personally meaningless to their career path/personal fortunes, checks and balances don't mean shit.
All systems are reliant on a population's willingness to obey and enforce their rules. We in the US, apparently, have very little appetite for that anymore.
Even less bootlickingly pro-Zionist administrations wouldn't have put significant pressure on Israel over the blatant murder of a US citizen, the Trump administration is certainly not going to fucking do anything.
(Note: all administrations post-Carter have been bootlickingly pro-Zionist, but some are more bootlicking than others)
It's not usual procedure for evidence to be released to the public, and both Biden and his pick for the DoJ, Merrick Garland, were unimaginative precedent-driven ghouls who wouldn't take a piss if it didn't have a court case and bipartisan agreement in the past five years authorizing it.
It's not so bad once you develop a system.
