NLRB orders Station Casinos to bargain with union after election interference including serving workers steaks branded 'VOTE NO!'

  • Fantastic. Remember guys, we're all on the same side on this one. This should be a signal for the US to get its ass in gear to do the same, but it's not like China expanding its renewable energy capacity is anything but great for everyone.

  • Yeah pretty much. Though the skew towards older people isn't exactly the problem - they track the ages of respondents and weight the results accordingly. The issue is instead that with such a small and unusual proportion of young people answering their phones, the data on that cohort is unreliable.

  • Common but not universal - as recently as the 80s young people tended to be more conservative than average. The giant age gap we see today with young people way to the left of the rest of society is pretty unusual.

  • Like I said, he ruined his career in the mainstream media, after which he did what so many people who couldn't make it in the mainstream have done before him and went into the less prestigious right-wing propaganda industry where standards are lower if you're willing to say abhorrent things. Tucker was indeed very successful at that second career and is a rich man (though he was already with the Swanson frozen food fortune) but I don't think that invalidates the initial takedown.

  • Sure he was successful in his second career as a Fox hack (though ultimately ejected from that as well and bumped down another level to a twitter video guy) - it's a lot to ask to not just take someone down so hard they have to not only leave their job and go work at a different kind of company, but can never be successful again.

  • Yes I definitely assume that. Maybe not every single person since who knows what goes on in people's heads, but generally we should expect the voters for the two left of center parties to prefer the other left of center one to the right wing one. Particularly since presumably if there was a single party representing those voters it would probably be somewhere in between them ideology-wise.

  • He starts and stops. I haven't seen him doing any criticizing lately because the Fed has basically been doing what he'd prefer by trying to slow down the economy via rate hikes. The point of this article is that now that the Fed is shifting back in the direction of cuts, Trump's attacks on it will likely recur.

  • ... right that's what's being reported in the article - the polls showing him far ahead are the evidence that he's going to avoid the humiliation of not being far ahead or even of losing, which some reasonably worried would be an issue given that he's not even going to appear on the ballot.

  • Hopefully the now arriving wave of electric cars built by incumbent car companies won't have the same issues as Teslas in terms of being single integrated bricks of technology that you have to throw out if any part breaks.

  • Yes, did you? Nothing in there about "chickening out", whatever that would mean in this context. I think the fact that he's not appearing on the ballot legitimately set him up to be in trouble there, it's not out of line to say there was a risk of an embarrassing loss.
