  • I don't mind costing them the effort or $10 for a new domain

Incidentally I have several domains with DNS provided by freedns.afraid.net, which allows sharing domains. Everyone who asks for a domain under any of mine just seems so very sketchy. Now I have to worry if they're a nazi looking for a new domain to get banned

  • My town gets -10°C occasionally (less now than in the past), but when it does the sky is clear and the wind is still. It's beautiful weather. Frost covered everything, melting in the sun where the sun touches

It feels fine in shorts and short sleeves in the sun, but cold if a breeze comes up

  • I try really hard to believe that assassination is not a solution

You know, it makes the guy a martyr, and riles up his followers.

But they seem pretty riled up already.

And they and he are really, really wanting to make America a totalitarian state

And if they did, America would break up.

It would be a generally bad result, maybe good for California.

Actually I hear a lot about liberals with guns, I guess the left lacks armed idiots

  • That was last time, we had a wage-price spiral. Wages went high, which pushed prices up, which pushed wages up, etc

On this occasion it is a price-nothing spiral. Prices go up, wages stay static, prices go up, etc

  • It is telling that prices have gone up so much on manufactured products, but there has been nearly no change in price of meat from a butcher

Land usage prices haven't changed, raw materials haven't changed. It's just the companies.

  • I wasn't able to have my measles vaccine as a baby because I had a fever — from a measles infection

If I had been exposed to measles a month later, I would have been fine, by getting the illness unvaccinated I was at much greater risk. Luckily I suffered no lasting damage.

Every day a child goes without vaccination is a risk

  • There's heights and there heights. The common fear is of heights that are large enough for a fall to cause serious injury, and not too large to be out of range for biological fall protection

I used to be afraid of heights, but trained myself out of it as an adult. I had trouble abseiling, walking on elevated walkways, standing near windows in tall buildings

Three things I never had a height problem with:

    • Front seat of a plane (or any other seat, for that matter)
    • Basket of a balloon
    • On top of a tall hill
  • I wish my suburb's streets were rebuilt to pedestrian/cyclist friendly style. It would be easy as every street has very easy access to the 80km/h square of main roads that surround it

You could block every street in the suburb in its middle and force all drivers to take the shortest path to a fast road, and let bikes and walkers take the short paths within the suburbs.

My street has about 2000 cars a day, with over 90% of them using it as a short path between two fast roads, or accessing or leaving a destination in a different part of the same suburb.

A friend lives in a suburb that's a tree structure, that's about a third best as there are no destinations from the "trunk" roads to anything but destinations within the suburbs. I'd hate to see that suburb needing to be evacuated quickly, but they're deep in suburbia and on a hill, so safe from fire and flood
