  • Usually the distro has tar in automatic and automatically detects which compression flag to use so tar xf ... usually just works

  • You can install custom roms into Xiaomi phones, I recommend LinageOS or /e/OS if you want a degoogled experience. If its not for you, the latter isn't really user friendly as some google apps like maps wont really work.

  • When this happened I went back to Eternity, a fork of Infinity, the app I used for reddit. That's also the beauty of Lemmy, there are lots of third party apps unlike reddit that banned every single one

  • The way to combat AI in my opinion is open sourcing every model and training data so that experts can devise methods to check if some text is similar enough to the ones generated by public models

  • Then you forget about local models that can't generate text as polished as hosted ones but will not have the watermark

  • Some puzzles have too similar edge pieces, making it difficult to get their positions right, I would guess this one doesn't.

I usually start with easy to spot places like a cabin in a meadow as the pieces would have a different colorscheme

  • It can just fetch the information one line at a time like a printing machine. I don't think the receipt machine has that much memory to hold everything

  • With that attitude, everything is an ai task but its like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut

  • AI is just a program that learns from the information you provide it to predict the next element in a series.

If you want a program to check whats in your fridge, a simple spreadsheet updated whenever you empty a bag is just as good.

An use for AI could be to update the spreadsheet with images from the inside of the fridge but you would need cameras that can work inside fridges.

  • Crazy but expected it isn't off by default

  • Russian Roulette Linux, the new distro using a coreutils implementation with a little trick

  • Thank you! I will check out the project and the configs

  • Is that file browser vifm? Which terminal do you use to display images?

  • Or just stop using custom made algorithms tailored to you in particular. In this front I think lemmy succeeds by not implementing an algorithm and letting you decide on the content you want to see

  • I prefer using swiping gestures. I'll wait until Eternity developers add support for spoilers as it hasn't been too intrusive for me at least.

  • Same here, spoiler tags don't work on Eternity. Do you know any app that can?

I have tried matrix but I want to hold out until I can set up a home run instance so I haven't been looking for clients.
