  • See this is absolutely the key point here I think. Because here in Australia where it's similarly rare, the only time I generally see people reverse in, is when there is a walkway of some sort to reverse up too, not another car.

  • On your last point, there are absolutely ways around that with technology. Reversing and side cameras existed long before they were factory features as aids for disabled drivers.

  • Yeah, and I think they will support non-handheld devices for using the SteamOS branding. I think we'll end up seeing a MiniPC using one of AMDs APUs at some point soon that has official support.

  • I find the scroll wheel handy when I'm using the controllers attached, both for desktop mode and there are some games I use it in, like Stardew Valley. I genuinely think it's better placed for that then mouse mode.

  • Do they still support the OVA installation method?

  • Feral pigs have also caused huge issues in Australia.

  • Again, I don't think that's true. Junglefowl live in incredibly dense tropical locales that would make it very difficult to hunt them.

As well, I think the concept that we would kill all chickens off so they would therefore be extinct because we have no use for them is, well, counter to what this entire post is about and not really much of a thought experiment. You could say the same about dogs, or cats, or any other animal humans decide to decimate. Hell, even each other at times... Even with junglefowl we could burn down their habitat until there were none left.

  • Actually not even close to true for chickens. The Red Junglefowl, the species that gave rise to the domesticated chicken, is classified as Least Concern. As is the Grey Junglefowl, the Sri Lankan Junglefowl, and the Green Junglefowl that contributed to the gene pool. If you're talking about Gallus gallus domesticus itself, then I think that gets a fair bit murkier as they never did survive on their own in the wild. However, with a population of 26.5 Billion in 2023, I think it would take a lot for them to go extinct, and it certainly wouldn't happen overnight. It really varies in my opinion. Obviously types* bred for meat consumption or cage eggs are going to struggle to survive on their own. But I have a Bantum hen that looks and acts like a Junglefowl, being able to clear fly over a 6ft tall person. She's able to nest up high for the night, and is near impossible to catch. I strongly believe she'd manage to survive in the wild quite easily.

  • If I had to guess, part of it would be that many staple groceries are actually sold below cost by the majors as loss leaders to get people in the doors. They can also force suppliers, with their larger buying power, to sell them things for cheaper. A good example of all this is milk.

  • ...mastodon is still just a copy of twitter with no new features

What new features does Bluesky have...?

  • As a woman, yes, especially at night, because I value my life.

  • So your solution is that no new housing be affordable? I don't really think trickle-down housing is the solution you think it is...

  • CI/CD works well on Forgejo now in my opinion.

  • I dunno, I fixed it at the time because I saw the post but I had to go digging a bit. I think they could have done a better job of disseminating that information wider.

  • I think it's a plane? Never played a version with them, would take forever!

  • This was already true for x86 handhelds, companies like Ayaneo and GPD have been around for quite some time. However, removing Windows from the equation and the huge resource overhead it causes, and making Linux a viable alternative with their work on Proton, has absolutely shaken the industry up. It looks like Microsoft is going to try and release a hybrid Windows/Xbox OS for OEMs. I did try out Win11 on my Lenovo Legion Go for an hour or so and it was just awful compared to Bazzite (that uses the Steam Deck UI). So all up it's a pretty exciting time for handheld and low power gaming!

  • I don't disagree in principle, but from what I've heard the full screen "buy a new computer" pop-ups are pretty bloody annoying!

  • Sorry, that's my mistake, it's actually on the User Tags page, under Track Votes:
