  • It's not theft really. It's going above and beyond

  • Occasionally. My retail experience was brief. I'm speaking mostly from experience on the phones. For some reason I was given more discretionary power there than in person

  • I can't believe there are people out there just doing their job straight, while the excess value of their labour just goes into the pockets of some investor whose biggest contribution to society is, like, a blog from 2018 on the best altitude to take a power nap.

  • Not only is it open, but you can check it out yourself and install right from source if you really want to get under the hood.

I've seen folks out there running a 1-person masto instance, just so they can partake in the fedi from their own fully sovereign platform. Bit extreme for me, but cool that it's an option. Definitely not just another FB in other words

EDIT: Oh dang there's a one-click app on DO even.

  • Nah just play it straight-faced and be smart. Lay your groundwork, cover your tracks, and do your follow-ups. I scammed employers (the big ones) out of tens of thousands over the years using whatever leeway afforded to me to reward the nice customers.

  • Thanks this'll get a chuckle on the #random channel at work

  • I have a house and a job and I've almost shit in public. I can totally see how it could happen if you didn't have access to one or either of those two (because they have bathrooms).

  • A lot of FOMO from people who missed out on bitcoin saw this, and thought it was the next big thing. And for like seventeen seconds, it was

  • Yes, it was lovely. We now have a great list of folks who were either too dumb or too greedy to hold back on scamming their fellow humans.

I won't lie though, for a little while there I was worried the pumping would continue like it did with bitcoin

  • What is today's Stroganoff? This is like the third time I've heard a reference to Stroganoff this week, but they don't seem connected, just like everyone's talking about Stroganoff all of a sudden.

  • Exactly, accounts signed off on this, so clearly it's not crazy. Who knows maybe they're thinking "Wow I can't believe we got this person for only 42"

  • Now this is even worse than treating bots as people - it's reducing people to a consumers who generate content. Like we're some kind of advanced bot.

are we against AI because it’s not a human

Yep. The humans are the part that makes it kosher, because we're limited and we don't scale, and we aren't inherently a product that is owned by someone.

  • Yeah definitely. I've started to see that process already. Kinda reminds me of when I was a more virulent atheist and wanted to debate everyone, and just generally be a nuisance.

  • Thanks, I know they're trying. And I mean I do love them, even with all their faults.

  • I'm no doctor but that sounds like fight or flight danger signals to me

  • I like it a lot. I check it every day, several times a day

  • lol

We want friends but don’t make time for them.

Definitely. I have lost really solid friends over the years, because I don't put the work in. I'm actually not that great at being a friend to others, which I'm sure isn't super uncommon.
