How much time have you spent doing it? What part didn't you understand? If it's the bit shifting stuff, don't worry about it - hardly anyone actually knows how that works unless they look it up.
The last vote was what almost 20 years ago? Before many of the people in Gaza were even of age, anyway. I'm not going to argue that Hamas doesn't act as a de facto government of Gaza, but it is not remotely on the same level as Israel.
Democracy wouldn't work if you tried to set it up in middle ages Europe either. All that proves is that the dominant kingdoms would close ranks and sabotage you, because you're an obvious threat to their power.
It doesn't mean that democracy is a bad system, or that it would never work. Although plenty of cogent and well lettered people over the centuries have spilled boatloads of ink arguing it was "unnatural" (goes against human nature) or "naive" (it might be nice, but the people can't be trusted). But it still happened. It just took a while to get there.
I'm a bit of a gradualist in that respect, I admit. But that's another topic.
I'm not going to deny that antisemitism isn't muddying these waters to some extent. Sadly, that's always the case when Israel comes up.
But with regards to the treatment of Hamas in relation to the Israeli government, one is an ad hoc terrorist organisation, and the other is a functioning democracy with ties to west. Hamas is already considered a terrorist organisation, what more is there to do? I hate to use an Americanism, but they're the "underdog" here. Israel is threatened, yes, but they have unprecedented control of the situation when compared to their aggressors.
PS EDIT not to deny that Israel has historically been an aggressor
Exactly this. I like my manager, but they busy themselves with their own job and making sure I'm not going to quit. If they had time to look over my shoulder, I would question their utility to the company.
Just start by dual booting one of the "easy" distros and doing stuff that doesn't require Windows. Eventually you'll start spending more and more time on it out of comfort, then one day you may realise that you haven't needed your Windows partition in months, and can skip out on it entirely.
I am seeing some of it tbh. Antisemite shitbirds who think just because a lot of folks are (rightfully) mad at Israel, that they can sneak in their heinous philosophy. Go muddy some other waters with that bullshit, is what I say.
I mean I'm on board with the generality, but looking up the original article it looks like was was taken down, stating:
EDITOR’S NOTE 10/6/2023: After careful review of the op-ed, "How Google Alters Search Queries to Get at Your Wallet," and relevant material provided to us following its publication, WIRED editorial leadership has determined that the story does not meet our editorial standards. It has been removed.
Apologies for the disgusting timestamp. I'm quoting.
It could be I'm missing something though since I can't see the whole article. It sounded like the Wired article was the basis for this one by The Atlantic.
I'm closing this tab now. If you see me back on here in the next few hours, you have my permission to tell me to fuck off.
