  • Honestly, I'm really liking how this race is shaping up. Adams is refusing to drop out because, well, he can't; the second he loses power he stops being useful to the Trump administration, and then he's vulnerable to prosecution. Cuomo is also staying in because he's a narcissist, and Ackman is willing to throw money at anyone else who wants to run.

So that means the centrist shit-libs and conservative ghouls are splitting their vote between at least two, probably three candidates, while the progressive vote will go entirely to Mamdani. I'm still wary of DNC fuckery, but so far, so good.

  • Filings list Wiener as a candidate in 2028, and since launching an exploratory committee in 2023, he’s repeatedly said he would never challenge the two-time former House speaker from San Francisco. However, if Pelosi decides not to seek another term next year — a real possibility for the 85-year-old — then Wiener could simply form a new committee for 2026 and transfer the campaign funds.

Well, that's disappointing. The Democratic Party doesn't need any more spineless cowards waiting their turn. If you don't have the balls to tell an 85-year-old to retire, you don't have the balls to stand up to fascism.

  • I mean, I feel like that one has some cascading effects that really fucked things up for pretty much everyone on the planet, so if you ever find yourself hurled back in time, you might consider it.

  • None of you said, "prevent 9/11." For shame.

  • The best advice I ever got was to play with your cat for thirty minutes an hour or two before bedtime and then feed it immediately afterward. It feeds into their natural rhythm of hunt/eat/bath/sleep. Ever since I started doing that my cat stopped harassing me in the night.

  • Sees desperate people getting coerced by the military-industrial complex into signing their lives away for the promise of an education and a slim chance to escape the cycle of poverty.

    "Fucking idiots."

Edit: Attacking the people being fed into the meat grinder of the military-industrial complex instead of the military-industrial complex itself is just boot-licking with extra steps.

  • You are definitionally wrong. A graphic description means, "Describing or depicting in vivid and realistic detail." Saying, "We're trying for a baby," would be considered euphemistically sexual at best. A graphically sexual description would be something like, I don't know..."having bareback sex and the man orgasms while inside her."

  • It has a carve-out for medical masks, so get ready for ICE to abuse the shit out of that if it passes.

  • OK, so it sounds like they died out in the 70s?

  • I'm pushing 40 and I've only ever seen these in movies. I feel like they haven't been in use since the 60s.

  • Well, if your plan is to defend you home from a fascistic government's intrusion, you'll be killed in a hail of gunfire. But if your plan is to take up arms against a fascistic government, you'll be killed by predator drones the first time you step into the open.

  • I know it's not rational, but the more fascistic the government gets, the less interested in gun control I am.

  • Yeah, it's important to remember that Hogg has only talked about his desire to see younger voices, which doesn't necessarily equate to progressive, and the only issue I know he has strong beliefs on is gun control. Thar doesn't mean we shouldn't give the DNC hell for the rat-fucking they have time, but we should be cautious in case he endorses any young Abundance Dems.

  • Yeah, I'm not happy about the Switch 2, but the amount of cope is unbelievable. I've seen multiple people claiming, "the Wii U sold out a launch too," even though the Wii U sold worse than the Wii on opening weekend. The sales might still fall off a cliff in a month, but breaking the PS4's record for launch sales is not a great sign.

  • These days he looks more like this:

  • I feel incredibly bad for Skully. She is a medical doctor who was recruited by the FBI because of her qualifications. Then, as she'a just getting starting with the bureau, they assign her to this guy Mulder and give her the task of debunking him. So, right off the bat, the FBI upended her entire career path only to give her a dead-end assignment, for which she's grossly overqualified.

If that's not bad enough, every case starts with Mulder making wild, unsubstantiated claims based on incredibly flimsy evidence. She uses her scientific knowledge to calmly and rationally put forward a more plausible theory, only for Mulder's insane hunch to be proven right against all logic and reason.

When I was a kid, I thought Mulder was smart, but watching it as an adult, it seems more like he's an incredibly lucky dumb-ass. Seriously, every episode is like:

Skully: "Looks like a serial killer that takes body parts as trophies."

Mulder: "Skully, look at these footprints. These shoes are very large. I think we're looking at a Frankenstein that's trying to build himself a Bride of Frankenstein."

Skully: "Mulder, don't you think it's more likely that it's just a tall serial killer?"

Mulder: "Yeah, but they're, like, really big. Like, size 13. It's a Frankenstein."

Then, 42 minutes later, it turns out it's a Frankenstein, and we're all supposed to think Mulder's some kind of genius, and Skully was just too pround and stubborn to listen to him.

  • Uh, you OK? That was a borderline SI statement.

  • They need to consider holding a new Chair election, because Martin sounded like whiney child in that audio.

  • Yeah, I do remember that the series ended with him being given the opportunity to become God (AKA the narrator of the show), and him turning it down, creating a universe without God, which appeared to make everything the same but without narration. I assume that was related to the cosmic energy? Fun idea, but, to bring it back to Theseus, his continued consciousness despite his physical transformation into energy implies the existence of an intangible part of his being (AKA a soul) that continues beyond his human brain. If we ever prove that transporters are teleporting our souls, I'll happily use one. Otherwise, they are 100% suicide booths.

  • As I said to the last person who said the exact same thing, even at launch, the Wii U's numbers were sluggish. It was considered a decent start, but it still sold fewer units than the Wii in terms of opening week sales, and it launched just before the holidays. It's too early to say, but breaking the all-time record for opening day sales is a pretty good sign that this is going to be a different story than the Wii U.

For the record, I hope I'm wrong. I hope this is a flop for Nintendo, and it forces them to go back to making innovative hardware at more affordable prices with physical games that you actually own. That could still happen, but this very early data point doesn't point that way, and it is not indicative of a second Wii U.
