  • Don't you think it's just a question of time before it's becoming good enough or better than us at some of these tasks? I do. With better training data, more parameters, better quantization, and now even memory management with memGPT, I see some very interesting evolutions becoming possible.

To me, saying "all LLMs are the same", sounds like saying "all humans are the same", to which I strongly disagree. Different people are good at different things. Otherwise, there'd be no need to hire any specialized workers.

Military usecases is a big ethical discussion. Autonomous drones sound pretty scary, at least as long as the technologies are not fully understood. Many people would probably agree that humans should always stay in control when serious damage could be done. However, many are ok with self-driving cars etc. There are many answers to be found in this regard, but I'm not sure this thread is the place to find them... However, I'd still like to hear if you have any thoughts to add on autonomous machines.

  • Are there any other LLM interfaces or co-pilot programming tools you'd recommend over ChatGPT, or wouldn't you trust LLMs in general?

As I see it, since we can keep iterating, reviewing, rewriting prompts, and even use tools frameworks like autogen to let multiple LLMs interact to solve a problem on our behalf, your take is somehow only diggin' the surface.

  • Sounds like it would actually make sense to have a handful of different accounts, each account optimized (through search/watch history or something) for a specific type of content you want to search for.

Otherwise, 3rd-party search engines are often better than YouTubes own search for finding obscure/rare/unpopular/unlisted/demonetized videos.

  • Are you saying, theoretically if I had 100s of TB (I don't... yet!) on mounted drives (local or NFS shares), I could back it all up to Crashplan, and keep the retention as long as the files still exist on my device(s)? Sounds amazing, but what's the cost of restoring the data? They're not being very loud about that part on their website.

  • Many mouse wheels act as a button as well. Hold the button down while moving the cursor up or down to scroll effortlessly. The further the distance you move the cursor, the faster it scrolls.

  • I certainly would never advocate downloading music with filesharing software like soulseek.

Neither would I. The selection of high quality music is unbearable - you can find just about anything, even rarities, in good qualities, which is quite scary if you have heard nothing but heavily compressed mp3-files until now.

  • I think you need to update NewPipe.

If you just installed the app from an apk file, try installing it from the F-Droid app instead, to keep on receiving new updates.

Alternatively, you could add it to the Obtainium app (use the search bar when adding), since it supports GitHub, F-Droid and many more repositories.

    That'll keep you updated!
