  • He's clearly not a source of knowledge or good opinions on fucking anything.

So here's my take on this, because I've seen similar personalities make similar pivots.

This guy is a disgusting, bumbling idiot, but he speaks with certainty and condescension. The curious onlooker will see him, get trapped by the mindset you describe ("oh man, this guy's a trainwreck, let's see how much worse off he is than me"), find it funny and continue watching.

After establishing some sort of "trust" with the audience ("I'm a big dumb idiot who makes you laugh") he pulls out the manipulative speech. "You'd have to be stupid to-"; "this guy's a retard!"; "It doesn't make any sense", etc. Once you get to this part of the steam, you've already established that the dude's an idiot, but you also think he's funny. You're faced with the decision to either laugh along with his "jokes", or "accept" that this buffoon is "more educated" on a topic than you are. The fragile, uninformed audience these people are after are much more likely to go the latter route.

  • I'm not gonna lie, you've got me rethinking my position pointing out the right side of it. I do think though, that if it were at the top and resting on the one step, that the corner of the mattress resting on the step would be bowed in a bit more.

    It is quite tricky.

  • How does the single mattress in half bit make you think it's at the top? If it were at the top, the force of the mattress trying to straighten itself out would push it down the stairs. Much more likely the mattress was pushed/ tossed/ fell down the stairs and got folded in that position, imo.

Edit: the shadows are also indicative of it being at the bottom: light source from above and and from the sides at the base of the stairs, either from an open door or window. Shadow cast from the door light source being cancelled by the light source from above the stairs.

  • I don't have an exact answer for your question, but I will say that when it comes to shows like these you have to remember that they're very much TV shows and are heavily edited to present a specific narrative. I'm not saying that's necessarily bad or nefarious, but you just have to take the events and the way in which they happen with a large serving of salt.

A family member was approached by their team (Holme's) to do the cabinets for a home that was being redone in our area. They literally wanted to pay him in exposure. I wouldn't be surprised if that's how a majority of their contracts work; hire a bunch of people to do the actual labor, tell them their payment is in advertising, then stand in front of the camera the whole time and take all the credit when the family shows up.

  • Hate to be a naysayer, but I can't really think of any examples of this 🤷🏾‍♂️ there'd be the random hyper realistic shots but I don't remember any weird ones like that, and they were always animated

  • Some rich asshole isn't taking half a quarter of your pay in taxes.

Some rich asshole is not paying his taxes and we have to pay more as a result.

That being said, 25% is comparatively low to other countries.

  • I remember having a thought one day as a young kid while interacting with a DVD main menu (the kind that had clips from the movie playing in the background, and would play a specific clip depending on what menu you went in to).

"This is basically how video games work, there's a bunch of options you can choose from and depending on what you do it shows you something. Videogames are just DVD menus with way more options."

I grew up to not be a programmer.

  • I think teaching about religion is fine and actually good for interacting with people outside your culture. Teaching of a specific religion is where you run into trouble.

I had a unit early on in school and another one in my early teens where we basically learned about the origins of a bunch of different religions and cultures surrounding them. Learned a lot about people that otherwise would seem unapproachable to me.
