  • That slang isn't well-known in America. I only know about it because he released a fragrance in the in UK around 2012 or so. So there was "trump means fart" as an explanation of why it didn't sell well.

Not that I doubt it, but it sounded like the chevy "nova" means "no go" and it didn't sell well in Mexico. That story is BS.

  • Do you honestly think they're "completely missing the point"? Read the meme. There's no mention of gitea. Self-hosting git is nothing to wiggle your tie over. Maybe setting up the things you are talking about are, but git?

  • Amazing. Thanks. Seems like you could divert most of the air into a secondary silencer chamber. That way only a "small" amount of air interacts with the reed. I'm not a gun guy though. I'm more here for the clown noises.

  • The idea that the argument "it's adam and eve, not adam and steve" is as logically valid as "he who smelt it, dealt it" really fucked with boomer's minds. It makes me wonder how serious they were about the smelt it/dealt it rule.

  • Sorry for being a bit out of the loop. Did Baldwin have knowledge that live ammo was not unheard of on the set?

  • I'm very excited. Thank you. KF plus British accents sounds so fucking good to me.

  • I'm a huge Knowledge Fight fan. And your recommendation sounds right up my alley.

KF is a podcast done "the dollop style" with the broadcasts of Alex Jones, both modern and years old episodes. Dan Freissen has listened to 1000s of hours infowars, has read None Dare Call It a Conspiracy (which is why the recommendation perked my ears), has read Protocols of the Elders of Zion, "you name it".

He shows how AJ's Globalizist conspiracy is just a reskinning of old antisemitic writings.

Dan was flown to Texas to help the lawyers of the Sandy Hook defamation trial. I can't say enough about how much I respect him.

Btw, by "the dollop style", I mean comedian Dan Friessen tells his findings to comedian Jordan Holmes who is naïve on the topic.

Edit: Knowledge Fight has zero ads. Never has. No paywalls. They have no interest in sensationalizing. It feels very honest.

I'll link the episode most inline with this article. #602 with Sandy Hook lead counsel Mark Bankston.

It seems like you folks like Behind the Bastards. They've been guests a few times. Here's one Part One: How The Rich Ate Christianity

Edit: I wanted to clarify the relevance of #602. That came out in 2021, right after the default judgement was issued in Texas. I believe the lawyers never gave interviews until that ruling. I listened back. It's a neat little time capsule. Just skip ahead until you hear Mark Bankston speak if it's your first taste.

  • Which is exactly in line with the meme.

  • Please tell me there is a youtube video out there building this.

  • The acceptable signal to replace the razor is when the pain from the dull blade pulling your hairs makes your eye watery

Sounds like a blade a day to me.

    Ook

  • You're distinction is meaningful. I will further distinguish whether one merely believes the statement or whether they are using it to argue a position.

I would say in the case where one says "I have nothing to hide." as a retort, it's usually in defense of an argument for the invasion of privacy. And it's never about themselves; it's always very distant from them.

  • I found it strange the claim started with the language "a Trolley Problem" and concluded with the language "the trolley problem".

It seems one could make any choice into "a" trolley problem. But Tuvix problem is certainly not "the trolley problem". This is about emergence of consciousness. In the trolley problem, the characters cease to exist. Neither choice here would end, say, Tuvok's consciousness.

  • I have an old netbook. I can't offer help, but I can share my plan.

I hope to have it network boot from my useful computer. That way, I can use it in the kitchen to browse recipes and stuff. Of course, then I also get to brag about having a mainframe. No one has to know it's a <$1k laptop.

I'm not sure if that would work for you. my netbook is 4GB ram.

Incidentally, I had a System76 computer with about those specs way back when. I loved it. It's hard to justify that form factor now since flagship phones are basically filling that role today. But now that I think about it, it's kinda like the equivalent of a 2024 smartphone was in my everyday-carry in 2009. Kinda wild to think about it that way. Not that it could make phone calls, but my phone doesn't seem to do that either :P

  • German Ks make so much damn sense. Why do I keep screwing them up?

In this case, it was that "cartographer" is a cognate.

  • Yo! It's Run DMHolySee and A Tribe Called Quirinal!

  • Goddammit. Quit leaving the croutons off my salad. I want to see some floating blue specks in there.

  • I've been a linux user since 2006. But I'm not a computer guy, it was just my OS really. I haven't done serious computer work it what feels like decades. Two days on Lemmy and I'm thinking selfhosting a smarthome could be for me. Things are so wonderful now.

PS: Auch mag ich Kühe. Sie sehen wie Landcarten aus.

Ok, that's about the most complex sentence I can make. I wish I stuck with learning German.

  • Maybe the "rhetorical question" article link would article would be a better reply. I bet you weren't expecting an analysis of why the half-price button idea was a nonstarter.

  • Day 1: "What is this place?"

Day 3: "Do you have a moment to hear the wonders of Fdroid?"
