So anyway

  • Democrats will happily disarm everyone and hand the keys to the nation to the Republicans.

Even today when the Republicans are years-deep into proving that all the worst things we've ever suspected about them and their motives are true (and more) folks are still more worried D wants to come take their guns away.

R is literally dismantling our government and trampling the rights of an ever-growing segment of our population, on a speed run to authoritarianism, but folks are still yelling about that tired bogeyman instead of using the 2A as they have always claimed they can't wait to do. (Edited to add: And I'm not even suggesting anything super dramatic. A few folks open carrying would probably be enough. You know, like all the magas that camped outside of polling places with their AR for purposes that were 100% not voter intimidation.)

You will scream about how Dems want your guns all the way up until the brownshirts show up to take them. The fuck is wrong with some of you?

  • I think it represents a timely reminder that we now know those who scream the loudest about the 2A, and how we can't do a damn thing about gun violence because it would erode their freedoms, have no interest in using it the way they've always proclaimed they must, as long as the right people are being hurt.

And I'm not actually anti-2A so much as I am anti-a-particular-sort-of-gun-enthusiast.

  • It's literally the reason the cover art exists. To entice you to judge it positively and pick up the book for a closer look.

Whenever I hear anyone say that, I conclude it's one of those things that somehow meant something slightly different when the phrase was coined. Either that or we're all just a bunch of goobers.

  • So you're angry that the poor are choosing the cheap option (🤔) because it helps the wealthy win? You're righteously indignant because they ignored that "Doing without is an option" and decided to spend some entertainment dollars in a way of their own choosing?

Ok, but I don't really find that very convincing.

  • Let's not forget we're dealing with the Administration that lied about Hatian immigrants eating pets, and when called on it the VP (candidate at the time) said, "If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do.”

  • I bet I know what you typed, and if so I bet I know why you deleted it, and it was the first thing I thought of too, and I laughed, and it was funny in 1984, but I agree it might not go over well today. 😄

The reason I'm making all these guesses is that's also the reason I didn't use a different screenshot with more famous dialogue from that scene.

  • I truly cannot fathom what gigantic pieces of shit Republicans are.

They are so cartoonishly, overtly evil. The fact that they can exist as they do and yet we're all just getting up and going to work every day has got me considering "simulation theory" more seriously than I ever could have otherwise.

It feels like someone modded the game in between one level and the next.

  • I kinda feel like this is a sincere attempt to improve his chances, and while yes I see the creepiness, I feel a bit sad for him also.

Willing to bet a makeover would help him more than anything he puts on a shirt, and no one in his life to tell him that.
