  • The early access was only a very small portion of the game

  • I mean, does it have to be? If they take over the sponsorship then it's not like it's co-branded. There would just be the Hugo Boss F1 team. Casual viewers wouldn't even know the connection to RB.

  • This x1000

I tried basically every app going on Android and they are all either buggy as fuck, unintuitive or janky in some other way. The user experience was just horrible.

I really do not understand all the people claiming Sync has an equivalent. It just does not right now in terms of a polished user experience.

Honestly it's just Linux vs Windows kinda situation to me. No matter how many nerds tell me Linux can do everything the same and is more customisable and better, it's just a worse user experience. Windows is far more intuitive and polished and there is a reason it has the market share it does.

  • The type of switch used would be differently considered and marketed for a gaming keyboard too. Doesn't really make a ton of difference if you can customise it though but generally speaking there are switches that lean more into gaming than general use.

  • It's owned by Amazon and they just don't give a shit about it anymore would be my guess. There is no way with all of their resources they should be having any issues with it.

  • That's wild. Like man I'm impressed with Sync and think it's great but you'd have to be using it for 7 years for this to be worth it...Lemmy is so new you'd be mad to be making a gamble like this.

  • Doesn't really surprise me. I just can't see AlphaTauri as a clothing brand get any real value from F1. I think you probably need to be an already established brand with recognition before you can dive in as a title sponsor? Like really most people when they hear AlphaTauri they think...F1 team, not clothes brand. That really lowers its value/mileage as a sponsor I would imagine.

I guess RB didn't want that advert spot for itself again though with return to Toro Rosso, so yeah sell to the highest bidder I suppose?

  • How strange! Seems there is some weird behaviour around hidden posts then. Hopefully that gets ironed out over the next few updates.

  • Haha what the hell I thought it was an image. That really is neat.

  • Ultimately if it earns more money, people will do it, and I can't blame people for wanting to earn more money because I'm sure most of us would do the same in that position. Like sure ยฃ1.99 to perma remove ads is great but I'm sure you can't retire on that as a dev lol.

  • Thank you for the suggestion! Weirdly, even with that disabled, they still dissapear after I have clicked into them. Although the app no longer marks them as read with a different colour, they still vanish and never reappear after a refresh or app restart.

  • Those options are nowhere near the level of polish of Sync.

Nobody HAS to use it. Ultimately if you want a choice of premium apps there has to be some incentive for a developer, or multiple in some cases, to basically go full time to develop it. Talented devs don't usually work for years on end for no pay, and I would be surprised if donations ever become significant enough to compare.

  • Same. I'm still more excited for Boost but Sync actually makes Lemmy useable for me. None of the other apps were good enough to drag me away from Boost for reddit.

  • So think of it like a 'feature' of Instagram then. You can enable the feature or you can leave it disabled but either way its sharing user data and login information etc.

  • Its Meta's (Facebook) attempt at Twitter. Given how much Twitter is shitting the bed as well as Metas ability to push a new platform via their other channels, it has exploded overnight gaining millions of users almost instantly.

  • I like the content but I'm struggling to really dive in regularly without better app support. Hoping Boost for Lemmy gets released before long and that will give a more refined experience.

  • Truly though. Less than 3k users a month ago and now over 50k and counting? Basically everyone here is looking for a reddit replacement. Hopefully those 3k other people don't mind lmao
