  • it's his right entirely to delete them, obviously. I just think it's a dick move. people living outside of rich western countries with good universities benefit a lot from being able to Google questions and get answers from its index.

I don't think the answer is to just tear it all down or whatever. personally I don't give a shit how Reddit benefits or suffers

  • it's not just Reddit. it's more websites every year.

I've worked as a sysadmin at companies who have done it. they blacklist an ASN which covers an entire ISP, or they just straight up ban the entire country. it's the easiest way to get rid of a few kids running penetration scans against the site or whatever. they don't get much revenue from the users in these countries and so they don't care. access to the collective knowledge of humanity is always getting smaller in developing countries.

  • The people I know who voted for Trump do not know how to filter and grade the quality of the information that they are receiving. They don't read very well and they absorb every click bait headline and Facebook meme that gets shown to them. They genuinely do not have a clue.

They are easily manipulated by parties who do not have their interests or the interests of the world in mind. It's a known problem that is discussed constantly.

  • almost everything on Earth is a profit machine. your internet service provider is a profit machine. your house is A profit machine. you can move from your piece of shit country just to end up in another piece of shit country. so what do you do then? vandalize the internet?

I understand what you're doing and I agree with the sentiment, but I wish people wouldn't.
