  • yes: Firefox Mobile supported extensions for years, but only mobile-specific extensions, which was limited to Darkreader, uBlock, Decentraleyes and a couple more.

the new change is that Firefox Mobile will support all desktop extensions, though I'm not sure if it's implemented just yet

  • Their queueing system sucks. All I want to do is queue up some songs but instead YTM fills my queue with tons of crap I’ve never listened to before because that’s how they make money. They put my manually queued songs at the END of the queue so I have to move them up 20+ spaces. There’s literally no way to do it other than creating a custom playlist every time I listen to music, and they intentionally made that take more clicks/taps than queuing. I don’t get how people are ok with the YTM app, it’s terrible.

    wrong.

    1. you can disable automatic queuing by hitting the 'auto-play' switch in UP NEXT
    2. you can queue songs by long-pressing and hitting 'play next' (which will put it in front of the queue) or 'add to queue' (which will put it in my the end
  • ublock origin on firefox mobile has been a thing for years. same for decentraleyes and darkreader. the recent change affects other extensions.

  • Exactly, you proved my point. You knew about extensions and enjoyed learning about Containers. most people aren't like you though: they don't care about extensions, they use their computer once a month, they don't bother installing uBlock and have no need for Containers.

  • She responded that she believed in Santa, and she gave this explanation: Santa is a cultural shorthand for generosity. Do you believe in the spirit of giving? Do you want to see smiles on children’s faces on Christmas morning? Do you want to make the people you love light up because you had special, almost supernatural, insight into their heart’s desire and made it real?

Santa is a cultural shorthand for consumerism. Going by your reasoning, god is a cultural shorthand for rationalizing one's own wrongdoing, lack of innate morality and misunderstanding of the world.

  • All people are atheists towards most of the "gods" humans came up with. I just go a step further and refuse to believe in one more.

  • Again, I guarantee if someone never cared about extensions and didn't even install uBlock, then Containers is an abstract concept to them.

  • people who don't use extensions due to lack of knowledge about them probably wouldn't care if they knew about them either

  • Most people don’t know how to use extensions well and how to use Firefox well. (Most of my friends in their 30’s still live without ad blockers, so I don’t think many are educated here)

All browsers have extensions, even Safari. This has nothing to do with FF particularly

It’s just not as fast as Chrome or Brave. I can’t deny this, but despite of this, I find it’s worthy.

Firefox is now a memory hog as bad as Chrome, but doesn't offer speed and responsiveness, which is kind of a shitty trade-off

    It’s not the default.

Neither is Chrome, yet people actively download and install it.

Many features which are Google specific aren’t supported.

    True

Many websites are just not supporting firefox anymore (looking at you snapchat), but you would be right in saying this is the effect of Firefox losing it’s market share not the cause (at least for now) and you would be right.

    True

  • my rule of thumb for buying any product or service is that if it needs paid advertising then it probably isn't worth it. otherwise I would have heard it independently from somewhere or someone

  • You probably didn't give the location permission — it's necessary to pair with a BT device

  • I'm with boomers on this. It's even worse if it redirects you to their FB page

  • Reality is not left leaning. Leftist politics are reality-leaning

  • Well I guess at the same time there are some settings which are global regardless, but that's only stuff such as display language, data storage folder or map rendering engine. Otherwise everything can be customised in each profile separately

  • I like the OSMand approach: whenever you change something you get an extra prompt on the bottom of the screen whether you would like to make the change in all other profiles (driving, browsing, walking, public transport, cycling etc) or keep it only here or revert, as pictured below:

  • but why even point out the joke in the picutre, even if there were no comments?
