  • More than this, the idea that the US will reduce defense spending at the same time as others are increasing it is laughable. The whole "NATO has to start pulling it's weight" thing will result in US military power diminishing vs the rest of the world and will result in more US military spending in the long term, not less.

  • Import tariffs are explicitly inflationary. Even the rhumor of them is arguably inflationary. Lowering the interest rate (which Trump is currently in the midst of bullying the Fed chair into doing ) is also explicitly inflationary.

All of the things he has done that actually pertain to inflation have been to increase it.

  • I'm pretty high right now but hear me out. I think Trump could be convinced to try to get Russia to turn over Kaliningrad to the US. It won't happen, but if the right guy whispered it in his ear he would probably blurt it out.

  • You're not creating more stick, but you're making the stick longer. The pressure wave in the stick will travel at the speed of sound in the stick which will be faster than sound in air, but orders of magnitude slower than light.

Everything has some elasticity. Rigidity is an illusion . Things that feel rigid to us are rigid in human terms only.

  • 'Data' is not neutral! The point of collecting data on teachers and schools was always about control, pushing down pay, cutting benefits and cutting funding

No, it's not. It is actually possible to use this data wisely. Source: every other country with better education than the US.

A few naive people think that they might have some use in monitoring standards between schools, THEY DON'T. Pearson, Springer, and the other large education companies suck up much of the funding...not to the benefit of classrooms and students.

    American skills issue.

  • It fits on with what I thought would happen when all the genocide Joe people were insisting things couldn't get worse. Netanyahu has a direct interest in involving the US as deeply as possible into his conflict (yes it can get deeper) while maintaining a stranglehold on US politics . Ultimately this is a short term play. He helped Trump win , but Trump is destabilizing the US to the extent that long-term Israel is going to lose its one absolute ally.

  • What was being done with the data was the problem, not the data gathering itself. All this means is that the data won't exist. The underlying problems still will. Not a single thing you've said justifies the action you're trying to justify.

  • He also added Texas Congressman Ronny Jackson, his former White House doctor, as a co-plaintiff to keep the suit before a Trump-appointed judge in Texas.

All the merits of this aside, this is some hilarious banana republic nonsense right there. You absolutely should not be able to file in bumfuck, Texas any time you need a lunatic judge to make an insane ruling, and any judge appointed by the fucking plaintiff should recuse themselves and be disbarred if they don't.

    Joke of a judicial system.

  • Huge numbers of people who benefit directly from the work of the NLRB vote for people who openly want to gut it. The reason every authoritarian regime seeks to control the media is simple - it works. Americans created an information environment where Fox News spewed their filth and lies day in and day out for decades. This was the inevitable conclusion to that. Those in this bubble who supported this see everything that's happening as the smashing for the deep state, and a federal government that "didn't do anything for anyone anyways". They're wrong and they'll be hurt, but so will everyone else.

  • They get away with it because they don't have serious competition and the reason for that is that allowing anyone to upload videos for free, to be viewed by anyone else for free, is by itself not a viable business model.

  • Because they vote consistently no matter what. They don't have to be cajoled just to get them to the polls on election day. They understand that voting is literally the least you can do, not the most. That makes their opinion in a democracy extremely important despite their lunacy.
