  • A lot of the damage this time around is generational. One or two sane administrations after this (which itself seems unlikely) can't fix the breaking of long-standing institutions and the massive loss of institutional knowledge.

  • Even if it does, I am certain that Musk himself will have zero legal liability here. His position is unofficial, all his authority is "because Trump says so", and I strongly doubt he signing his name or signature on anything. That itself should scare people (even those who agree with what he's doing), but most Americans are just sleepwalking.

  • The US military (and others) are pouring R&D money into anti-drone lasers. It's the only way for the cost element of anti-drone defenses to make any sense. When that tech is mature and small enough in sure it will eventually be mounted on tanks .

  • This war is a sample of what all major conflicts between industrialized nations are going to look like from now on. Even more utterly horrific for the average soldier. Death from above at any moment without warning, fuzzy front lines, the whole thing.

  • I assure you that even if this government falls there will somehow be no evidence that he did anything, let alone anything illegal. There will be no paperwork with his name or signature. Regardless of the pile of human garbage that is this administration, the US is completely unable to hold billionaires accountable for literally anything.

  • Reminds me of that guy who deliberately books vacations to places that have just suffered terrorist attacks. Cheap as fuck and super safe since there are security forces everywhere. Not sure I agree with the practice, but can't really fault the logic.

  • Forget Biden. Bernie Fucking Sanders could have been elected to 2 consecutive terms starting in 2016 and the US would still , right now, be a highly capitalist society with fabulously wealthy corporations, and basically the same number of billionaires. Americans just might have more affordable healthcare and education, that's all.
