It isn't a comparison between 81 and 77 I'm concerned about. They are both too old to run for presidency!

Two candidates pre retirement age would be great about now.

I love Plex for the most part, but this is why I also run jellyfin with my same media collection.

I rode an elliptical, lifted weights and ate healthier to lose 60lbs. Lots of water too.

One of my friends is a developer there, they knew vaguely it was going to happen after a town hall meeting, but didn't know who was going to make the cut.

Their stocks are going up with every layoff and costs are going down. It's working marvelously for the executives.

Is it sustainable? God I hope not.

My guess is bot farms mostly. Russia, the DNC, the RNC, et al benefit in their own ways from posting their reactions all over social media. Sure some on the far left probably didn't make it past the first commercial break, but with an election, everyone is coming out to play

Regardless, they are both way too old to be running again. I find it hard to believe these guys with one foot in the grave and an inability to speak coherently are our best bet.

I don't think it can be completely blamed on culture or simply "selfishness". There is a group of powerful lobbyists that are influencing policy:

There are absolutely people who love their cars, and/or are assholes, but that isn't the only reason it isn't a priority. There is a big cost associated with any infrastructure project and the US is a relatively large country to cover. Also people from rural areas have no idea what "good" looks like in terms of mass transit.

I hate that they are laying people off. I do however want to use some machine learning powered adblock, for those harder to block ads. otherwise I don't feel like every app needs an AI assistant. It's bad for the Internet generally and for the power grid.

Service has gotten worse at many places.The servers are still great, but quite a few places have adopted the model of having you scan a QR code, you order online, pay with your credit card plus tip, they have you pick it up at a window, you eat, and at the end you bus your own table. Then they have options like 18, 25 and 30% to guilt you into the middle one. It's like, damn I haven't even talked to anyone yet, you're jumping to the end first

I enjoy Ubuntu server. At the end of the day I just want something simple. I run most of my services in docker compose, and zfs for the filesystem.

I hate both parties and I say I'm independent, as I realize they are both beholden to their corporate interests and lobbyists.

The system isn't designed for people with good ideas to emerge and change things for the better, but I like to think at some point in the future individuals like that could win outside of party lines. They have us all mixed up in these culture wars while the rich people keep on getting richer at an accelerated pace.

But you are right, I'm going to vote for my version of less crazy, along with everyone else, and we'll collectively go nowhere until the current crop of politicians age out or die.
