  • The older star trek also usually had one story in each episode, and just a little bit of an overarching plot, so much of the time of the episode was actually used to tell a story.

Discovery adopted this soap-like storytelling, where there is one long story broken up into episodes. Each episode has something interesting at the start, then just a lot of filler, and when it finally starts to get interesting again the episode is over and they spoil half of the next episode with the "coming next" segment.

So instead of making something people want to watch because its interesting, they just manipulate you to watch it because they string you along.

Picard does the same, but at least they have some interesting content in the middle of an episode sometimes.

  • That is going to result either in a bang or nothing happening.

You can use a power supply if:

    1. the plug fits
    2. the polarity is correct ( - and + are at the correct location)
    3. the voltage matches
    4. the current and wattage is the same or higher
  • That is true, until it isnt anymore. At one point Google will become so shitty and other search engines much better, that everyone will start to switch over, but at that point its too late for Google to do anything about it.

But thats somehow beyond the grasp of every shareholder ever (or they plan on selling the stock in a few years anyway).

  • The disadvantage is higher weight for the same structural strength because the lower and upper tube are closer together (or combined into one tube) so the leverage is much less.

I dont mind the "mens" frame, but if other people want to use a low step frame I am not going to call them sissies or something stupid like that.

  • I started with a bunch of Tuya devices that are almost all flashed over to tasmota etc. by now.

What really got me to actually start with home assistant though, is the exterior blinds controllers I bought. They kept losing wifi after a few days until I rebooted them, but they were hardwired, so every day I would have to turn off a circuit in my house with everything connected to it.

I flashed them with openbeken OTA and now they almost always work and, even if they didnt, they have already rebooted and are working again.

  • Oh yeah I totally needed to learn about what a writer might have thought 200 years ago while writing EVERY SINGLE PAGE of his book, when I already knew that I wanted to do something with technology.

But we didnt have enough teachers for biology and physics and chemistry, so instead we got more literature.

I wonder where I (and our whole society) would be now if schools werent meant for preparing kids to transition into work, but instead about getting the full potential out of every kid.

Im German and I did learn English in school, but not really, because it was taught in a way that made me lose interest immediately.

I actually learned English when I started to watch Minecraft Youtubers in English because they had some interesting contraptions in their videos or something like that (Its been a while, I dont know exactly why I started watching them)

  • I think sweeteners have this bitter and or empty aftertaste that makes me avoid them like the pest.

So no more pepsi or lipton for me (at least with their new formula here in Germany)
