It's also real fuckin obvious that a lot of this solical media sentiment is manufactured. Just today I was browsing reddit discussions and if you dig through a great deal of these account's user history they're obviously troll accounts stirring shit. Sometimes it's insanely blatant because they know the vast majority of people will never look.
Yeah most people won't notice much of a difference past 1gbps for now. A lot of the infrastructure hasn't caught up yet and a lot of people don't even have fast enough WIFI routers yet.
I upgraded from something like 200mbps to 1gbps a while back in my last place and I verified I had 1gbps but my download speeds even directly over ethernet were not much if at all faster from the sorts of places I typically download from. Like you said a lot of sites throttle.
No agenda, I'm very pro electric, I just think a lot of the MFGs could stand to make more affordable EV models.
And yeah I think dealerships are not acting in good faith because EVs are way less of a cash cow for their repair departments, among other reasons. I think it's about time they let consumers buy direct.
Fact of the matter is that most people can't afford an $8000 furniture set. They may end up paying more for furniture in the long run than someone who can afford that set, but that's just the unfortunate way of things. This well summed up in one of Terry Pratchett's books:
The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money. Take boots, for example. ... A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while a poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.
Apparently I was mixing up the Ioniq 5 with the Ioniq 5N, which has a starting price in the mid 60s and I think gets into the 70s depending on options.
Like sure the Ioniq is a cool car, but it's fucking $70,000 dollars. I just have a hard time believing they can strap wheels to a battery for less money than that.
Really has felt like the thrediverse has been quite active lately. During the exodus we had a lot of posting about... the exodus. But now we have a lot of posting about actual topics and what feels like a pretty healthy community building save for a few instances that will probably get defederated before too long.
Well someone keeps voting in the fucking tories. If they didn't, he wouldn't be PM right now.
