Senior citizens being the outright meanest demographic. Not by frequency, but by intensity. The amount of stubbornness, entitlement, and just absolute resentment for everything around them shocks me. The way they react to things not going exactly how they think they should go is astounding. Don't get me wrong, the majority of them are pleasant and wonderful. But when an old person is mean, it's on its own level. I'd say middle aged people are more likely to be difficult, but they never even come close to the tantrums that seniors will throw. Part of this could be chalked up to mental decline, but the main part is entitlement. Plenty of people experience mental decline, and dont become vitriolic assholes. They truly think they're special and should get whatever they want at all times. Its exhausting explaining to an adult why I can't do something for them that our organization is literally unable to do.

Speaking to your first line, yeah, you feel that way because it is that way lol.

A great outcome of this would be the general public realizing that youtube is not the place for academic engagement. It's entertainment, full stop. Just because some guy puts together a video essay doesn't mean they know shit about anything. Actually, I'd argue it's a big sign that they specifically do not know what they are talking about, and are simply trying to make a buck off you.

How fantastic is this? I personally love cooking so it's something I actually do to curb depression, but I know many people who could use this book. Even if just as a symbol of solidarity. Thanks for sharing!

Agreed. I understand the flippancy with him in particular, but prisons should not be a place where your life is in danger. Think of the other inmates, not just him. There are lots of inmates who can be reformed, but living in an environment that is so dangerous makes that much less likely. Sucks all around.

I worked at a library in college. It was amazing. Truly one of my favorite jobs I've had. Libraries are legitimately one of the best things about modern society. Go support your local library folks!!

I relate to this more than op. I pretty much only use lemmy and discuit, and then twitch and discord for gaming. And I spend way less time on them than i did on reddit. Youtube has never been my thing. I hate being talked at by some try hard asshole trying to get me to subscribe to their mediocre channel. And the community there feels like it's mostly people under the age of 16. No thanks. In general, the enshitiffication is real, and it's pushing me away.

Since the reddit api exodus. It's a small community, but feels very tight knit. It's also the least toxic place out of those I listed, excepting rss.
